Hi All
I have had my 178 for a few weeks now and have spent a lot of time getting up to speed learning as much as I can about all the components. I have been a little preoccupied with winterizing, dewinterizing and sanitation, making sure I understand those protocols and do it right.

One aspect to my 2017 R178 that doesn't have me concerned, but does have my curiosity perked is my bypass valve set up. I have successfully found my water pump and valves. I have 3 total valves. One each for the hot and cold on the hot water heater...and one valve that opens and closes the pigrtail hose that is used to draw antifreeze out of the bottle when winterizing. No valve on the hose between the hot and cold lines to the hot water heater?  In videos and other sources it seems like most Pods have one additional valve that my set up does NOT have. That is the valve on the hose that links, and is in between, the hot and cold lines to the hot water heater. I see in the videos that when you are in "bypass" mode the hot and cold line valves are turned perpendicular to the lines, then the "in between" hose valve is set in line to the hose to allow flow thru this line when bypassing the hot water heater. So I am curious why my system does not have this particular valve located on the line that is between the hot and cold lines that run from the hot water tank?

Mine has the three valves for the hot water heater. I understand that newer ones use a three-way valve to eliminate the valve and line that was used on mine.

This web site shows the three different types of valves used for RV Water Heater Bypass. I hope it helps you make sense of your system.

Good pix on link from StephenH. The job can be accomplished with just two valves, one being a so called three way valve, but you must have the hose between the hot and cold lines. That hose is the bypass. Two valves without the hot-to-cold hose/pipe is no good.

Thanks so much for the reply. My 178 does indeed have only 2 valves for the bypass.
