Unless you are leaving it wide open in a torrential downpour, you should not get so much rain inside that you need to resort to leaving the gray water valve open to drain onto the ground. Doug said he leaves his open an inch. That would not allow much rain at all to come in.

I also would like to get a cover, but so far, we have not had a problem. We get more water splashing from the sink than we get from the vent.
