I am curious what do others do to lock up their trailer when unhooked at a campground or in storage?

I use a U shaped lock that has a ball that fits into the hitch.
You can get one online or Walmart. Not very expensive. Others on this forum get even more elaborate

We have used just a coupler latch lock. Have never had any problems.

We use a lock that is similiar to the one posted by geewizard.  It's made by Reese.   Seems to supply enough of a deterent!

We also use the U shaped lock. Make sure you loop the chains through the U to keep someone from towing it away by the chains. We also have a lock on the hitch ball latch.

If thieves really want to steal it, they'll find a way. The trick is to slow them down as much as possible. The longer it takes for them to steal it, the greater the risk they'll get caught, so the less incentive they'll have to go through with the theft.

I never thought to put the chains through the U. Good to know. Thanks.

I read and was told that most of those locks are useless. They can be broken / compromised in 2 minutes.
In addition the wheel locks some people use that wrap around the wheel / tire are useless. My neighbor's brother had one stolen. The locks that wrap around a wheel are useless because the people that are looking to steel trailers simple pop off the wheel and put on a spare they carry and drive away leaving your locked wheel.  I opted for an expensive solution that I feel comfortable with. I purchased extremely hardened tamper/pick proof lock and chain that I fish through the wheel and around the axle. To cut this lock or chain you need to work on it with a grinder on a bench for 30 minutes.....
I thought better than coming back to no camper.
It is extreme but now I don't worry about leaving it anywhere.

I purchased two Mul t lock padlocks used from ebay today, these are virtually not able to be picked. I also picked up a 6' piece of hardened chain. I have a heavy cable. I plan on using the cable/padlock on one side and the chain/padlock on the other wheel. The only way to get these off is with oxygen acetylene torch.
Not that I am paranoid but I just rather be cautious.
That is if I have the rig in storage If I am there I have a 12 gauge alarm.

Sometimes we lock the door.  That's it.  We've traveled  from KY to FL to the southwest, to Mexico to Canada.  Never felt a need to lock stuff up.
