I stumbled across this camper online. Called the nest caravan. I guess it's built by airstream. Pretty nice 2 person camper. Estimated at 2500 pounds, and 30,000 price tag. I'll stay with my pod , but its pretty cool

Looks teeny weeny compared to a 179. Almost 50% more moola.

Reminds me of a Casita or a Scamp, but the finishes look a little nicer.  I suspect the build quality and warranty service might be a little better than the Casita and Scamp, but is it really worth the price difference if you are going to take it to Forest Service and BLM camping places?  It's curious, that I wasn't able to find any fotos of the head.  I assume it has a wet bath, just like all other trailers in this class.  Also a lot of the fotos were taken with lenses to make it look more spacious than it probably is.

http://newatlas.com/nest-caravan/37479/ - New Atlas has more information than the bare-bones description on the Airstream site. It does have a wet bath. See the link for details.

All told, I prefer our 179. The Nest looks rather cramped.

You've got to like 'cramped'. I don't like the porta-potti or the apparent lack of a convection/microwave.

The "competition" market they are going after is the Oliver. Casita, Scamp, BigFoot, and few others are in the egg camper market, but the crown right now is on Oliver. The guy who designed the Nest, said in an interview after AS bought him out, that the target market, the benchmark for AS, with the Nest, was Oliver. I forget where I read the interview, or I would link it. Another very interesting design, just waiting to "take off" is the Relic.. tiny, but very retro, and for now, retro sells a lot..

In the foto link posted by StephenH, the sink is next to the fridge with no counter space to put anything around it.  I'd sure hate to wash dishes in that sink.  The only available place to put wet or dirty dishes on the other side of the trailer.  But, like the other fiberglass "egg" style trailers, there is certainly a market, and they're clearly going after the upped end of that segment.  For my preferences, we'll stick with our Pod for the foreseeable future.

My wife and I saw a Bigfoot model at a dealer near us. It was much bigger than the Nest. While it was very nice, I don't see us switching any time soon as it would require us to get a TV with a higher rating. It was very nice though.

Interesting, and hopefully very light (eliminating the steel frame had to shed a lot of pounds). Might be perfect for someone with an undersized TV. However, we have gotten used to the elbow room in the RP-179. The addition of the slide out really makes a big difference in a small trailer.

First thing my wife looks for is a slide out. I know many folks who just need that extra space.
