Our 176T has an electronic tongue jack, which is great until the battery has no charge and you can't plug into an electrical hookup.  Is there a manual override? When hooked up the vehicle it won't run if the battery dead.

You should have gotten a manual crank with it. You usually just have to remove a panel to expose the socket that the crank goes into for manual operation.

There's a rubber plug on the top of the electric jack where the manual crank goes...

Have fun!

I have to remove two screws to get at the manual crank socket on ours: the bubble level covers up the hole.

I had a pop-up camper in the past that had an electronic wench to raise and lower the sides and the one time the battery died I jumped the trailer battery with the TV and it provided enough power to operate it.  I have not had to try that with our 179.  I did not receive a crank from the dealer; another oversight on their part.

Hi-Lo? My family had one when I was a teenager. My dad had to replace cables a time or two.

Why not just back your vehicle up an hook power from it to trailer. After just a few minutes of charge your electric tongue Jack should work fine.

The hookup from the vehicle doesn't charge the battery.  Learned that the hard way. Not on our model anyways.

That's not good. You need to check that out. The capability is there, perhaps your tow vehicle is the culprit. I know with some GM products it was necessary to add a fuse. But I think you want your TV to charge your TT batt.

If the 7 pin hookup is properly wired your vehicle will charge the R-pod battery.

Properly wired sometimes involves installing a fuse or breaker in the tow vehicle. I have read that some models have it in the glove box and it needs to be installed before the TV will supply power to the trailer.

+1, wired and capable are 2 different things. I know with my GM products I had to a fuse to the under hood fuse box. The wiring was there but the fuse is an addition even if the trailer harness is OEM added. It's a 40A fuse that goes in that charge circuit. Just because you have a factory installed 7 pin doesn't mean you have a charge capability. As you look at your 7 pin on vehicle it will or should have 12V at the 1:00 position. It should follow alternator output.

I wired my own and placed the big fuses that are required. Keeps everything charged

You probably need a relay and a fuse. Some Fords had the wiring and components in the glove box, others it is inside the passenger kick panel. GM did same thing, has the wiring but the fuse has to be added. There is a F150 Forum that is very informative, but a quick stop at a dealer would probably get you an answer. Just because you have a trailer tow package doesn't mean that 12V wiring is hooked up. I read somewhere once that dealers leave that wiring out because the 12V pin in the 7 way can corrode if not used. I don't know. Was your 7 pin connector dealer installed?

I believe (but I'm not sure) that F-150s prior to 2015 have a relay that needs to be installed. There may also be a fuse.
