Hi, I purchased a 2010 Rpod M175 and I would like to put a cover over the slide out. Has anyone done this and if so which did you purchase. I did find a cover but it’s one you have to install after u open. I would like the type that opens with the slide out.

etrailer.com sells them now for around 200, free shipping.

But what size is that? When I look at one sized for the 179, it usually runs significantly higher than $200.

Not sure SH, I looked those that supposedly f0r 178, believe they were 190 plus, all depends on width, what is dimension needed for a 179? 10 footers were significant different, no way you need a 10 footer.

The slide-out on the 179 measures 109-1/2" flange edge to flange edge, a smidge more if the corner covers are counted, or about 110" That means I would need either a 9' or 9.5' awning, which are currently listed on eTrailer for $349.95.

Thanks SH for taking time to respond, obviously I had no idea how wide a 179 slide is. The OP will have to measure the 175 slide and use that as guide. As I recall the 175 has a 55" sofa in the slide.

We got this one from this seller for our 179:

You have to buy the brackets separately, which adds another $70. When we bought ours over a year ago, it came with the brackets, but apparently no more.

How does it mount? Does it attach to the flange or to the wall below the flange?

Wall below the flange.

I don't remember if I needed the long or short brackets because I don't remember the flange height; I followed the recommendations on Carefree's website:

Short Bracket - Flange heights 0" - 3.25"
Tall Bracket - Flange heights 3.26" - 5.25"

It's a pretty quick install. The screws for the brackets are all self-drilling. The hardest and most time-consuming part was feeding the fabric into the keder rail: I spread the ends of the rail a little to help prevent snagging.

The slide cover from etrailer doesn't use the keder rail. The brackets are universal. I bought one for my 178, it was 195 bucks complete. The larger 179 cover is indeed more expensive.

We have a slide cover that came with our used 179. I have no idea what the brand is or what it cost, but it is installed manually each time  you set up. It is not hard to install and uses the keder rail that comes stock on the slide. There are several bungee cords that keep it tight. Ours seems to be a heavy canvas type of material and seems to work well.

I have one too, from Paraque, decided to go with a constant mount, no bungees, just made decision and happy with it. Pretty expensive for a 179 due to big slide.
