Just bought a 2019 189. Our tow vehicle is a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. We added a 7wire hookup with trailer brakes. Does anyone have experience towing with the Pathfinder. No problems on our first short trip. ------------- Mike Bearden |

Welcome and Congratulations! From what I can find out, the towing limit for a Pathfinder is 5,000 lbs. You are good to go. You did the right thing by getting the Equal-i-zer hitch and brake controller. Did your Pathfinder have the factory tow package? Welcome. Sounds like you're about where you need to be to handle your trailer. Of course, it will depend on how you personally load the trailer and the Pathfinder. If you want to know for sure for your rig and your load out, here is a great towing calculator which takes into account your wd hitch effects. All the max load specs should be on the Nissan door and trailer stickers. https://www.ajdesigner.com/apptrailertow/weightdistributionhitch.php You can get all your actual weights by loading up for a normal trip and running through a public scale adding an axle at a time. Do this with the Pathfinder first, then the combo without the wd hitch tensioned. The tongue weight will be the difference between the Pathfinder's two axles with and without the trailer. I used my county waste transfer station scale for this, no charge for residents. Welcome to the forum. You'll be fine with your Nissan, but StephanH is right, if you don't have a transmission cooler, it would be a good idea to get one. We towed our 2018 190 with a 2016 Pathfinder with factory Tow Package for a couple of trips this season until we upgraded to a 2018 Frontier with Factory Tow....Never had an issue ------------- Semi retired, but still loving it.... |

It turns out that our 2104 Pathfinder did have a large factory trans cooler so we did not add one. Just drove 1000 miles from Southport NC to Little Rock Ar with no problem except 11.2 mpg. I wonder if a larger engined tow vehicle might no to have to work as hard? ------------- Mike Bearden |
