I need some help with my recent R-Pod purchase.  I bought the 173T expecting it to have three sleeping areas, as per the website: the expandable tent area (60x74), the sofa (74x40), and the dinette (58x74).  The issues are as follows:

-The sofa has flat pillows to sit on and raised, plush pillows along the back.  When the sofa is laid down for sleeping, the discrepancy between the pillows makes for an uneven, uncomfortable sleeping surface.  Why aren’t the back rest pillow flat like the seat pillows?  Anyone have a work-around?

-The tent area appears much smaller than the stated dimensions, and it appears as though the inflatable air mattress actually is supposed to lay lengthwise in a fashion that would extend it over the couch.  The problem (besides obstructing the sofa sleeping area) is that there is a huge gap between the tent area platform and the sofa cushions (about 8-10”).  If the mattress lays on the platform, across the gap and onto the sofa that gap becomes a problem since there is no support for the mattress.  What’s going on here?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  I like the RV, but it’s my first one ever.

I don't have your model so I can't give you any ideas.  I would call the dealer have a talk with you salesman about it.  Maybe there is a problem with your Pod.

I have the 173T.  The problems that you state are true.  When I went to see my dealer before I bought it, he pointed out to me that although FR states that it sleeps 6, 4 is probably the highest, with 5 pushing it.

I think for the tent area they are talking about the size of the air mattress, not the opening.  My air mattress fits over the gap, so no need for support, that is where my legs are.

I have not tried to sleep on the sofa by itself, tent is normally down and I sleep on the air mattress.

Hopefully that helps.  I do think FR needs to change what they state.

Welcome thinking1.  I guess you copy-and-pasted from Word, I tried to clean up your post a little - not sure what is going on with the formatting.

If you have any other questions about podding, like questions about the water system, electrical system, lug nut maintenance, etc, fire away!
