We have been wanting an RPod for years, I guess ever since we sold our VW SYNCRO Camper Van. I’m specifically looking at getting the 176T, but I’m concerned with being able to use the dinette if the tent is folded in. Does the tent fold in neatly? Or is it all flopping in on top of the dining area? We have a 2 boys (2 & 5 yrs old). I’d only keep the tent folded in if we were winter “camping” (RVing) or if we were on a road trip and stopped to make lunch. I can’t find photos of the inside with it folded in anywhere? We live in California, so I’d have to get it specially shipped over, since the 176T aren’t regularly sold on the west coast.

It's not what I would consider neat. If you use the original 'mattress' it will stand almost vertical allowing enough room at the dinette for 2 adults and 2 children......but that would be a little tight. Basically you will have the length of the table and I can measure that for you.

What is nice is the two bunk beds at the other end. We use the top one for storage and the bottom one would be plenty for two kids.

I'll see if I can get some pictures for you.....any questions, fire away.

T models are not "regularly sold" anywhere. They are pretty rare actually. They are still in production, and are the only rear hatch model still built, but they account for a very low percentage of annual production. Current production is only at the Indiana plant for the 176T. The tent is a bit bulky when folded in, BUT, if stopping for a quick lunch break etc, the hatch can be opened, and the tent folded out, without bothering to erect the supports etc (as long as no one is going in to it) in seconds, and closed back up when finished.

Our mattress is 6" thick and a trifold, so it takes up more room when the turtle is in. The dinette table is 36" long, so with the thin oem mattress you can use all of that space.

Thank you all for posting.  It’s certainly a financial commitment and I feel like I’ve done my research. I just want the best RPod for my family. I’ll absolutely keep y’all posted on the decision we make.

Cheers! 🏔
