Propane regulator started failing just after 18 months. I assume the vents getting blocked. I made a field "repair" by hitting it with a screwdriver handle a few times, but I need to replace the regulator eventually. Can anyone recommend a regulator that works a bit more reliably? ------------- 2018 R-Pod 180 |

Of course your regulator may have failed, but it could be contaminants in the propane itself, or the pigtail. Been known to happen. If you replace the regulator, be sure to replace the pigtail also. ------------- r･pod 171 gone but not forgotten! |

| I had a pickup camper a number of years ago and the propane tanks were designed to be used lying on their side. I would take them to be filled and stand them upright. One day I could get no propane. I took the rig to the rv shop and learned that I had messed up the regulator by standing the tanks upright for filling. Maybe that also applies to upright tanks - don't tip them on their side. Just thinking'.. |

Propane tanks have float valves inside that can get jammed if the tank is put into a position that is inconsistent with the operation of the float valve. Most of the tanks we see are designed to operate in an upright position. Some, operate on their side. If you try to use the tank in an orientation that is inconsistent with the float valve operation, it won't work right. ------------- Never leave footprints behind. I have never put the propane tank on its side. It just stopped working for no apparent reason. Since knocking on the regulator made it unstuck, I assumed it was the regulator. I will check the pigtail as well. Thanks. ------------- 2018 R-Pod 180 |

Last year we replaced our 10 year old regulator as it had failed. When taking the propane lines off, a gooey substance came out on both the inlet and outlet side of the regulator. Was told that this would not happen if i were to turn propane off when not using for long periods of time.
