I know Dicor is sorta the standard RV caulk. Its hard to get near me and I tried to get Proflexx but got "Gardner-Gibson Leak Stopper Rubber Flexx" by accident. So, is this a satisfactory RV caulk?

I am repairing damage along the bottom keder rail near the wheel from my recent axle problem. If its not a pretty good caulk, I don't want to use it.

Thanks for any comments.

I have not used that.. but Dicor is just for the roof flat areas, everything else should be a good silicone caulk that you like... I have used just the "100% pure clear 25 year"stuff from Lowes around openings on the sides of several campers, never an issue.

Remember, it's all about surface prep.. the one thing silicone won't stick to is itself, so clean off any old, before applying the new.

Just FYI, Dicor makes self-leveling sealant for horizontal surfaces as well as 'non-sag' sealants for vertical surfaces.

And Camping World and probably any RV dealer that has a store for parts would carry it.

As far as rubber type RV roofs go, I do really believe that the Dicor is essential...however, my husband and I rebuilt our 2008 Coachman Captiva a couple years ago, taking it down in the front to the studs. I did considerable research on the caulking of RVs at the time and learned that urethane and tripolymer caulks can be used to reseal them. We used Sikaflex urethane caulking on all the seams and it is still looking great. We just cleaned the camper for this summer and I inspected the caulking and it is still looking great after two full years. We purchased the sikaflex urethane caulk at Home Depot. I did learn that you should NOT use silicone caulk on outdoor applications at that time because they don’t hold up as well to sun. They are good for inside application near kitchen and bath, though.  There’s a couple other brands that were recommended by RV repairmen: Geocel  Tripolymer, Flexable Seal Tripolymer, and Vulkem Urethane. I only have experience with the Sikaflex Urethane, but feel it is really standing up to the elements well. We found the Sikaflex near the cement department of the store, not in the paint department where silicone caulks are at. For what it’s worth. Cost was under $8.00 per tube. Worth every penny. Came in white or beige.

I am also a Lexel fan for certain apps. It is an adhesive caulk, can be used on wet apps, internal or external. Paintable and available in white or clear. Little expensive but it was a lot of contractors use.
