hello all,
I am finally taking my 2011 173T on its maiden voyage. Everything was going fine until I turned on the hot water heater. After about 5 minutes the lp alarm starts wailing. I had to pull the fuse to stop it. I also turned off the inside switch that that was not working anyway with the fuse pulled. Does the heater work on electric if I only have the outside switch turned on? Thanks for your input.

Dan

The water heater works independently on both propane (with 12Vdc for control), and 120Vac. To run on 120Vac electric you need to be connected to a pedestal or other AC source, have the outside on/off switch turned ON, and have the dedicated circuit breaker in the panel (the one labelled water heater) turned ON.

Remember to turn either the circuit breaker and/or the outside switch to OFF when there is no water in the tank or you will burn out the heating element.

How is the health of your battery and was it charged? The LP/CO detector will trigger if the 12V voltage drops below a certain point. This should only be an issue if you're boondocking or the converter is dead.
