I just got back today from a 500 mile trip and are about to go on another longer one this weekend (hopefully). As I neared our house, I noticed  new sounds from the right wheel area, I think the suspension - a combination of squeeks and skronks, not when going straight on a level roadway but when turning. Not loud and not continuous but they definitely are new.

So, ....

Comments? Suggestions?? recommendations??

Are you using a Weight Distribution hitch?

Are you using a sway bar?  If so that may be it from the friction of the moving parts, do not lubricate.

Good thoughts from both above. It took some time for me to get used to what the WDH with sway sounds like rounding corners.

If it's really coming from a wheel as you think, jack it up and check your bearings.

Curious when they were changed last.. May be worth doing anyway if you don't know.

Thanks very much for feedback.

I have a sway bar that I put on when needed, but it isn't on right now. I have the bearings lubricated once a year, I'll check their temperature first thing I go out. Anytime someone else does something there's a chance they screwed it up, the only reason I don't do it is that I know I wouldn't do a good job of it.

There's no fluid leaking from the suspension, I tightened everything down that could squeak and there is a chance that the noise is related to the steps on the trailer, especially if funny noises AREN'T associated with the suspension.

I've been very happy with our 171 but every-so-often it ups and bites me so I'm afraid I've gotten a tad paranoid, especially with the long trip coming up soon.

Again, thanks for the responses.
