I think I'm going to finally break down and buy one. Curious what rating to buy..

Looking at the 2K version. Low enough scale to do the tongue (and read the numbers) and high enough to weigh out front and rear weights of the trailer (I think). Also thinking I could weigh each axle and get total weight.

Thoughts?

Here's the one I'm looking at  http://www.amazon.com/Sherline-LM-2000-Trailer-Tongue/dp/B007REK28M/ref=sr_1_1?crid=13EHEEARWSL64&keywords=trailer+tongue+weight+scale&qid=1570886196&sprefix=trailer+tongue%2Caps%2C233&sr=8-1 - http://www.amazon.com/Sherline-LM-2000-Trailer-Tongue/dp/B007REK28M/ref=sr_1_1?crid=13EHEEARWSL64&keywords=trailer+tongue+weight+scale&qid=1570886196&sprefix=trailer+tongue%2Caps%2C233&sr=8-1

Cool...have it sent to me and I will check it for accuracy...no charge!

I just use the old bathroom scale, tape measure, a 2x6 and a couple bricks....gets me in the ball-park...

I've done the same.. I really liked what I saw my Dealer do as we worked around the trailer doing repair reviews. He placed it the floor jack and just rolled into the area of question and took a reading. Pretty cool!

I bought the 2k scale, and the 1k gauge. Takes about a minute to swap as needed.

Now that's a thought! I may up to the 5K and pickup the 1K gauge. I have to think about this this a bit.. They're the same price!

You get the gauge on amazon as well?

should have checked before asking..   http://www.amazon.com/Sherline-Hydraulic-Tongue-Weight-Installed/dp/B07KTBG64P/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=gauge+for+sherline+scale&qid=1570895266&s=office-products&sr=8-8 - http://www.amazon.com/Sherline-Hydraulic-Tongue-Weight-Installed/dp/B07KTBG64P/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=gauge+for+sherline+scale&qid=1570895266&s=office-products&sr=8-8

I bought from eTrailer.. several years ago before I started an allotment to Amazon.. LOL

At the time we had the Pod and the Airstream. In theory you want a gauge to be working in the middle 60% of it's range, according to a couple mechanical engineers I know.. so the 1k was good for Pods, and the 2k for the 'stream and now the Lance.

As a note, when switching gauges, Sherline states to depress the scale just a bit to keep air out of the body. IME, you will only attempt this once. LOL.
I keep a bottle of jack oil on the bench, and just top off a couple drops if needed. Much less trouble then cleaning up everything in a 5 foot radius when the stiction is overcome on the plunger suddenly and you spray oil everywhere...

Thank you for the warning!
