Hi!  I'm excited about picking up my new 177 tomorrow.  Dealer promised a 90 min. walk through....good since I'm not very handy. I have a ton of questions.  If he can't answer them I'll be back here.  Its nice to know there's a group. Hopefully, the modifications on my 2004 Toyota Sienna (transmission cooler, brake controller, hitch wiring modification) will be done today.  I've been reading a whole bunch on the internet and a book.  I would like to know your experience with getting service in locations other than the selling dealership since we're purchasing the unit in Richmond, MN & will be spending most of the year (8-9 mo) in coastal NC where the nearest dealerships are in northeastern NC & northern SC.  Thanks in advance.

Bob

We just money down on a 177 too!  The walk through should be interesting.  What book did you go through?

Its called "RVing Basics" by Bill & Jan Moeller. Its a bit old (published in 1995) but it gave me a good vocabulary & basic knowledge.  There are also some good web sites,  http://www.newrver.com/easy.shtml - Bill's Hints: Great for learning how to use an RV ,  http://www.rvingmyway.com/ - RV'ing My Way - The Beginner's Home ,  http://www.ehow.com/topic_3697_introduction-motor-homes.html - Introduction to Motor Homes | eHow.com , &  http://rvbasics.com/techtips/travel-trailer-towing-safety-tips.html - Safety Tips for Fifth Wheel & Travel Trailer Towing - RV Basics .com  which were pretty good.  Of course, there's nothing like direct experience.

Congrats Bob! I hope you enjoy your 177 as much as we do ours.
My hubby gave me the "RV Basics" book for Christmas, and I love it....I've learned a lot.  I like their info on maps.

I'm pretty sure any Forest River dealer will work with you.  Congrats of getting the Pod!
