It's tough for a Floridian to find a weekend campsite in Florida this time of year. Visitors from the frozen North tend to fill the spots. We did find an opening at Hillsborough River State Park near Tampa. We're wondering if anyone has experience with the place. Is it nice? Are there things to do? Comments appreciated!

We live in Michigan and have stayed at Hillsborough SP for 2 or 3 years and have enjoyed it. Got some biking on either trials or hard service roads. Also a river runs right by the park good for canoeing or kayaking but watch out for the gadors. We were going back this year but our son purchased a house in St Pete so we're going there.
