Hi all, we just got a 2019 R-Pod 191 and are out on the maiden voyage to try it out. The front door latches real tight but is hard to pull closed from the inside. I was opening it from the outside and I saw and heard this plastic part fall out from between the exterior door and the screen door. It's like a plastic wedge and it was obviously siliconed in to place and fell out. Can anyone tell me where it goes? Better yet, post a pic that shows how it is installed and what it does? Thanks!!!   |

It goes on the bottom of the door. I don't have a picture but if you look on the bottom of the door, you should see where it was glued before it fell off.

Thanks Stephen, I will take a look around there. Your feedback is much appreciated, I see some of the mods you have shared here and think it will save me many hours of head scratching! It does have wear on the edge and it looks like a latch of some sort, but being made of plastic and held in by a dab of silicone tells me it's not much of a "load bearing" part. Maybe it's a spacer or stop of some kind because our door closes very tight and almost needs to be slammed to get locked. Is there an easy way to adjust the door to close without having to use so much pressure?

Probably not. The door has a friction hinge to keep it from blowing open/closed in the wind. If it's the handle mechanism that is causing it, you might want to adjust the striker plate perhaps. Here is a picture of where mine is located. I had to glue it back in place when it fell off also.  As for the door being hard to shut, I agree that you may need to adjust the striker plate. Otherwise, you can also pull a little on the handle with one hand while pushing it shut and that will help also since it won't be trying to push the latch out of the way. Too bad the latch or striker does not have a plastic insert to help reduce the friction. That sure would help.

Bingo StephenH! Your'e awesome man! I was wracking my brain  over where that little piece belonged. Hahaha, not that it's a big deal, just one of those things...so it looks like it might wedge up the bottom of the door when you close it? If it didn't serve some purpose it wouldn't have been there...

Thanks, yeah I am starting to think this is just the way it is. I have oiled the hinges and checked the striker plate, it cannot be slid out any further to let the bolt catch sooner. I think maybe over time it could wear in and close smoother. This camper has not been used much. It would be nice to have a strong metal door handle instead of the plastic one. It flexes and feels like it's going to break sometimes. From the outside you can just press it until you hear it click. I don't want to slam the door, so I might try and make a loop from nylon strap that I can secure using the existing screws of the handle assembly so it will assist me to pull the door closed gently from the inside until it clicks.

Here's the repaired wedge back in it's place. I used Permatex Black Silicone Adhesive Sealant on the back side of it up against the rubber seal where the original clear silicone was, and I also used Dap Rapidfuse on the top edges where it touches the bottom of the door frame. Rapidfuse is awesome, I have used it for so many things now. It's like super glue that actually works! PRODUCTS I USED:  AFTER:  |

Great! I'll have to check out the Rapidfuse. I don't need any right now, but it might be handy to pick up a bottle.
