We are considering the new 192 R Pod, but there is no surround arou d the tub/shower area. Is the wall sealed and water proof. Any one that as used shower in 192, or know why no surround like to hear from you. Thanks

The walls are waterproof in the wet bath models. No one I am aware of, going back to the very first generation, ('09) has had a water issue with the shower walls in the wet bath. I am going to guess they didn't decide to put non water proof walls in at this point.

"tub" is a generic term for the "floor" of the shower, it's not a "bathtub".

I should have mentioned the 192 R Pod has a dry bath. I am concerned no fiberglass or plastic surround. Walls will get wet from shower. I have a email to Forrest River about this. We like the 192 ecause of the Murphy Bed.

the wall covering is water proof, just like in the wet bath models.

Hmmmm, that's odd to me. They started putting the plastic surround in the shower in 2017, I had it in my 172. I also have it in my 2020  195, I wonder if they have abandoned this feature. Are you saying ALL 192's don't have the surround, or just one that you saw.

On the 2020 R Pods with dry baths all have plastic surround except 192? Still waiting to hear from Forrest River. It may end up being a recall like ac cover recall.

I looked at the forest river website, and you are correct, the photos clearly show the surround on the 195, and the 196, but nothing on the 192. I know all pods before 2017 didnt have a surround, and were said to be waterproof. I feel much better having the surround in my 195, but if  it's waterproof without it, I guess  I would eventually get over it. I'm curious if they will put a slide out on the 192, if so, that would make a huuuuuge difference.

We dobbled up the shower curtain in our 172 and cover all the bathroom walls with the curtain.

We just bought the 192 and was wondering what if anything you did to waterproof the shower surround? We contacted Forest River and they stated it is waterproof. We asked the best way to clean it and they have yet to get back to us. So, been researching what would work but looks like the easiest way to waterproof is paint it with a good acrylic paint and re caulk it. We are open to ideas. Thanks!

I wonder why they didn't put a plastic shower surround in like other FR trailers?

Paint may not stick well to the surface and would do little to stop a leak.  If you are really handy, you can buy material from building supply places that can be applied over the existing walls.

Personally, I'd let sleeping dogs lie unless you have signs of leakage.  Probably, the walls, as constructed, are sufficiently waterproof.  All you need to do is clean them with a mild household cleaner and a soft cloth or paper towel.

I'm not sure about the 192 shower. In our 2016 179, it has wallpaper. It has proven to be effective. We use a squeegee followed by a microfiber cloth wipe down after showers to speed drying of the walls. Since we bought it in December, 2015, we (my wife more than I) have  used the shower many times.

I would not worry about it. The plastic surround has its own problems, such as not sticking to the wall behind it from comments I have read in other topics. I agree with Fred in this respect. Observe and address if needed, but I trust Forest River on this.

Lostagain and StephenH, thank you so much for your input and helpful comments on what is best. We like the squeeze/wipe down of the walls method and will keep an eye on it as I plan to use the shower. Crossing painting off the to do list. Thanks againSmile
