Hello All,
We are first time camper owners and so excited for warmer weather! We just brought it home yesterday, right before our mandated stay at home for the next two weeks. Driveway camping for now to test it out. The plan is to spend 2 -3 months next winter in warmer climates. We planned a few upgrades to do, like the bath faucet and a shower surround, which this model doesn't come with and I'm sure practicing how to back this thing up! Stay safe everyone!

Thanks! Have been reading posts and learning a lot. Shopping for a backup camera, that should help.

One good rule for learning trailer backing is try to always have a second person, and have them stand so they can see you in the side mirror.  And standardize hand signals.  Since the kids are out of school for a while, the high school parking lot is a good place to learn. IMHO there is no excuse for a backing accident if there are two people in the TV.   Don't rely on the camera until u can do it without.  Two way radios are of minimal benefit since " come right" or "keep coming" have no reference  point.

Welcome and congrats on your 192. I am a 195 owner and I am very happy with it. It has so much storage, and it's very roomy.  I must admit, I really like the 192 floorplan. I haven't gone to see it in person, because i'm afraid i'll like it...... a lot, lol. I wonder if they will change a few things that I would like to see. I would like the slide out, just like the 195/196 have. Not sure why it doesn't have it. Also little things, like the shower surround.  Over all, I think You're gonna love it.
Btw, I have the furrion back up camera, and it works great. Quite frankly I use it more for seeing behind me when towing. It's better than mirrors when making lane changes, or just seeing what's going on behind you. I considered getting the side cams, but I don't think I need them.

Thanks John for the information. It will be the two of us when traveling. We just need to get on the same page as which way is left or right! Our hand signals need work as they are not the most helpful.

Thank you mjlrpod! We looked at the 195 and liked it too but we were trying to keep the trailer weight as low and the 192 has all we were looking for, even a full queen size bed. We will research the camera and thought the same thing about seeing what/who is behind us. Our side mirrors worked out great. Where and how did you mount your camera on the back?

I didn't actually mount it. I had it added at pick up. It is located just above the center rear running light. It is wired to the running lights, so the camera only works when we are towing and the running lights are on. It was a pretty easy install as I watched them do it. Like I said, camera works great.

Ours is attached to the license plate and I wired it to always be on by connecting it to the lights of the tow vehicle.

My caamera is from a company in Ft Collins, and mounts to the license plate, and is battery powered and works thru the cell phone.  Works well but hand signals in the side mirror are much less complicated with out a time delay while new data uploads.  But I am a 76 yr old analog guy.

We too are new to travel trailer camping.   The 192 fit the bill perfectly.  Bought ours in February.  We are now experienced driveway campers, not only because, up until yesterday the weather in Northern Alberta was still -12c (10f) but we, like the rest of the world are waiting for the GO CODE !

We included in our unit 300w solar, King Falcon Wi-Fi Extender, backup camera, dual 6v batteries, dual 20lb lp tanks, and I installed the Southwire Surge Guard Protection (will post install pics when I figure out how and where🤪)

I’m excited to pull the unit off the driveway Big smile  and share in this forum!

Hi Dave! Welcome and you have all the nice upgrades. Are you planning more boon docking?

Weather here in MT finally, improving, hope to see the last of snow so we can try the camper out, other than in the driveway, wondering if we will need dual lp and batteries. Only upgrade completed so far, new bath faucet. Found the original one pinched your fingers trying to turn on/off.

Have fun! Shari

I this is all new to us, but I likely went a little too far with the accessories.  My wife tells me I’m an insurance agents Dream, as I always would rather have too much insurance than not enough... dual  propane and solar were a just in case.  Wanted a worry free weekend if we didn’t end up in a full hookup camp.  I’m hoping to make the 20hr drive to Yellowstone next year and I understand select few sites have power so I told my wife we can’t go without it 🤪....shhhhhh, our secret!

The sales person told me dual tanks should last most, if not all season.

I installed an in-line surge protector and will post how I did it after I re-type the info for the 3rd time.

Yeah, all new to us too. Better safe than sorry, if you have it, you won't need it!! On your way Yellowstone you'll pass right by our neck of the woods! Hubby wants to know what type of backup camera and how was it mounted?  Still researching which one to add on.

Hey MT Newbie20

It is a Furrion and mounted between the clearance lights.  Unfortunately I’m at work until Thursday so I can’t give you any more info than this

You will enjoy Yellowstone. Hopefully, you can get a site in the park. If not, we stayed at the https://www.brandiniron.com/the-pony-express-rv-park - Pony Express RV park just outside the gates in West Yellowstone. The sites all had 50A service, but the office had 50 to 30A dogbone adapters available for use. The sites are crowded together, but that is not bad since you will likely be touring the park during the day. It was quiet and it had some nice restaurants nearby as well as stores for groceries. The cost was reasonable, and there are discounts available.

I have only run one propane tank on 3 campers i've owned. I have never run out of propane during the season. Your mileage may vary. I use electric hot water when available, same with fridge. The biggest use of propane is if you use heat. I have a 195, and filled my tank in June. I took at least 8 - 9 trips with it last summer. I also periodically used the heat this winter while I did a few projects in the camper. I still have propane.

The lower the temps, the higher the propane use. When we were traveling in winter, we were using a tank of propane every 2-3 days, and that was with the thermostat set no higher than 65. The outside temps were single-digit with a significant wind chill. OTOH, during the summer months, the propane lasts a long time. Still, I recently put in dual tanks with an automatic changeover so if we get into a situation of needing more propane, I won't have to worry about whether the tank will run out in the middle of the night.

I also installed an https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C5RQI74/ - AP Products (Mopeka) tank monitor setup with one receiver and two senders. I made sure to get the aluminum feet as I heard that the rubber ones don't really work well. I did not like using the app on my phone.

I can recommend the  http://www.campendium.com/red-cliff - Red Cliff Campground , about 45 minutes from Yellowstone's West Entrance.  We stayed there last year late in the season.  Very quiet other river noise and some highway noise, depending on your site.  Electric & non-electric sites.  Plenty of hiking nearby (but beware the grizzlies!)

Yes I hear sites can be slim pickings so I really appreciate the tip.  It’s always difficult when visiting an area for the first time but can also be why it’s so exciting too😁

Hi New92,

Decided against a surround since Forest River stated it is waterproof how it is, others on the forum concurred and I didn't find a surround that I liked and wasn't too heavy. Our only thought was to paint it but will wait and see if that is necessary. A recommendation was to squeegee the walls after use, so I bought a squeegee and will try that. Will check out the surge guard. Thanks for sharing the info!

I looked at the photos of the 192's shower, and I think that they might have left the surround out because it would need to be high enough to pass the area where the roof begins to curve. Because the 192 has the rear bathroom, they can't run the surround straight up the wall to a high enough height. I assume they figure the water would run behind the surround, and become a leak problem. That's my thought of why they did it.

Very shortly we will be buying our first pod...we are in the market for a new 176.  A few questions:
1.  Is there a difference between the 2019 and 2020 models?  There are two for sale near us and just wondering...the 2020 is listed at $500 less
2.  Is there such thing as a pre-purchase checklist so we can make sure we negotiate the right things, including things we don't know about but should know?

Thanks in advance!!!

There may be a couple of options on the 2019 model that aren't on the 2020 model. You would need to get a detailed listing of what each one has to determine what is different.

On a few 192 walk-through videos I’ve viewed, the couch has removable, padded arm rests with cup holders.

My unit didn’t have this option.  Did anyone get the arm rests with their trailer?  Was this an add-on?

...Sorry squeezed the photo little too much.

No, we don't have arm rests on our 192. Looks like you would have to take them off in order to fold down the bed, so where to store them? Not sure if needed since have the table next to it. Interesting....haven't used the Rpod enough to see if it is something to add.
