Hi everyone!

New to the forum and new The rpod world. We just purchased a 2015 rpod 178. I have a super noob question and I apologize if it has been answered elsewhere. Do the outlets only work when you are plugged into shore power or can they be powered off of the inverter?

Mine only work when they are plugged in to shore power. I wanted to make sure this was by design and not a loose connection or a bad inverter? Thanks for your help!

No loose connection, the 120Vac only works if on shore power. That’s because the hardware you have is a converter not an inverter, producing 12 Vdc from 120 Vac, not the other way around. If you want (very limited) 120Vac power available when not on shore power you can buy a small inverter inexpensively and connect it to your trailer battery.

"Small" is key when talking about inverters.  Anything beyond 400 watts will suck the juice out of your battery in no time.  Charging your phone; maybe watching TV, is about the limit of what you can do with an inverter connected to your battery.  Without shore power, the alternative is a generator -- if you need 120 v .
