I have spent months researching the camper i wanted and selected on 176t which i then found out was not being made anymore.
Rather than a used model i went for a new unit and communicated with a sales rep mainly via text until i made the plunge and sent deposit off in May.
After many weeks of trying to get a timeframe, knowing that the COVID situation was going to delay i finally picked it up.
Why the poor review? They had no concept of customer service .
~ I never met the sales rep until being there for two Hrs.  And that was a very brief hello/enjoy your unit chat
~ the initial worker doing the work through said “i don’t know too many times” before i grappled someone else.
~ obviously they just want you out since you have already bought the unit so never saw the sales rep again
~ forget getting any follow up as I’m trying to establish how to fix the full awning and just getting ignored.
~ don’t expect anyone to be wearing face coverings, wiping down units or anything safety focused relating to COVID
If you don’t want any customer service then certainly look at them

They are a wholesaler.. you went there because they had the lowest price.. (they always do)
You get what you pay for. Not making excuses, just pointing out the truth for the next guy.

I saw too many bad reviews of that joint when I was looking for our 195 to ever consider them.

That is why Forest River advises to buy local. You saved money at the expense of service.

I purchased our 2021 196 from Couch and had it delivered to North Carolina from their place in Ohio. Was it a perfect experience, no. Are there items they should have addressed before delivery, yes. I am hands on so the minor things have been dealt with. We are staying in the TT for the next several months and have been in it since July. So far only major issue is the need to add a slide-out awning/topper. I would buy from them again.

I bought a 2020 R-Poio from Florid 190 from Couch. I drove up to Ohio from Florida and picked it upon April 1, 2020.
My experience with them was awful. They blame Covid on everything!
I checked ahead in order to make sure everything was 10-4 before leaving home.I wanted to make sure the camper was ready to use the first night. The salsman said, "You have my promise, it will be ready".
When I arrived they hooked it up to my Tacoma an had a maintenance guy do a very quick demostration. Then after 45 minutes of the usual come on sales pitch, I was on my way.
After 3 hours on I75 south, I stopped at a rest stop to check out the camper and to my surprise, it was still winterised and nothing had been done to have ready, except the propame was filled.
In addition, it had a few maintenance issues, like the refridgerator on-off switch was inop.
After I got home (stayed in a Hampton Inn) and called Couch the salesman became very angry and hung up!
I was very polite with him, but firm on my complaints. Then after and few more calls I got Mr. Couch himself and he cussed me out and hung up!
I ended up fixing the refridgerator switch myself, but still had other issues.
Take my advise: COUCH is a place to avoid!! Period. As one writer said, buy local. In addition, when you buy local and need warrenty work they will take care of local buyers.
Yep, I learned a good lesson and just passing it on.

Obviously Mr. Couch's anger management classes weren't effective after his aggravated assault conviction. I wouldn't buy anything from RV Nation.

Yikes! Sounds like if you do buy from that guy its safer to complain by phone rather than in person.....Star

I was camping this weekend and someone asked to see the 195 (with mask on). They said they called couch and got a great price quote, and that they were very helpful on the phone. Not that it means much, but that's what they said. They are purchasing a unit.

I also got a great price, but for me, it wasen't worth it. In addition, when you buy local, you'll get much better service.
But, as they say, "To each his own".
Thankks for the reply,

A lot of sales people will seem to be very helpful before the purchase. It is after the purchase that matters. Once the customer signs the papers, he/she becomes a stranger to the sales person who is off trying to earn his/her next commission.

I wish the 176t was available locally. After having the first camping trip i am going to have to fix several other issues as even my local camping world is so busy selling new units i have been warned of at two months waiting time for them to even look at a warranty issue.
Not only has Couch RV nation failed to get my awning fixed on the mount by fixing an led strip on the mount but also failed to to notice the top of the towny section is not even fastened to the frame.  At least i only got a little wet before duck tape came to the rescue.

I guess this year is not a good year to be buying a camper as the shoddy workmanship from forest river demonstrates from my tent replacement they are not checking work before sending it out.

Maybe you can fix some of those thing yourself as I had to. My bathroom fan has never worked and it's a 2020 190. I will have an electrican friend of mine see what he can do with it. You can also hire an mobile machanic, then pay him and send in the receipt to the warrenty dept. They do honor those, at least that's what the say.

Contract the RPod warranty department at Forest River and have them send you a list of shops that are qualified to do warranty work. Then you can be sure FR will recognize the shop and I think it will simplify getting the warranty work done.

Back in Arizona for the winter season. That  is why I bought from Cheyenne Camper Sales in Walcot, Iowa. No problems, strait sales price, lots of Pods in stock. Greatest dealer I ever dealt with, and I bought many in my lifetime.

We don't plan on ordering our R-pod 195 until late spring or summer 2021, but curiosity got the better of me and I shot Couch's a quote request. I expected them to come in for thousands less than the "local" authorized dealers and they did. But factoring in the 1,800-mile round trip required to pick it up from them in Ohio, not to mention everything I've read here and elsewhere about dealing with Couch's, we won't be buying from them. Not no way, not no how.

But you may want to use the Couch's quote as part of your negotiating with your local dealer.  Not necessary to match the quote but make the price more reasonable, everything considered.  That is what I did and you would be surprised how it works and also closing toward the end of the month and picking the trailer up (getting it off their lot) before the end of the month.  Maybe this year all this posturing will not work because of the shortages and long delivery wait time in the RV industry.

Point well taken, Jay. I use every available weapon in my arsenal when negotiating, and the Couch's quote is one of them. Even taking the COVID effect into account, some dealers are bound to have units they're anxious to move, and if they aren't willing to come down from the MSRP by 20 to 30 percent, they won't be moving those units to me.

Hello NewEnglandah,

You may already be aware of this, but if you want the 195 by summer you may need to order real soon. I am hearing six month wait times on orders placed now. Our 196 has been on order since 9/8/2020, it is expected to arrive in February, unless delays push it out further. This is at my local dealer, yours may have better news?

Regards

X2 what Stephen H said. Forest River gave us some choices, one of the closest was another dealer who has been excellent to work with.

Thanks, Colonel Podder...

We are definitely aware of the current timelines and are hopeful production will eventually catch up with the increased demand spurred the pandemic. If not, we are prepared to wait however long it takes for our Podding adventure to begin.

I purchased a 180 back in 2016 from Couch and my experience wasn’t that great but the price was thousands cheaper. I don’t have an rpod dealer near me so I decided to purchase again from Couch’s. Again they beat everyone’s price by thousands. Hopefully my rpod 202 experience will be better. If not, my own fault.

This has me concerned.  I just put down a deposit with them.  We were looking for a 180.  I could only find a few used in the entire country that was 2020 or newer.  Local dealer said they don't have one on order for the next 10 weeks.  RV nation had one that would arrive from factory in about 2 weeks with a lower price than the few used ones available.  Hoping for the best, but lets face it, these trailers are not known for quality.  Glad I am handy with tools.
