Hello everyone. Since I have an air conditioning problem I thought maybe you guys and gals could help. Right now my air conditioner is running for seconds at a time then it shuts off it sounds great and it’s working when it shuts off it takes a while for it to start back up again sometimes it comes right on other times it just sounds like it’s humming . This is the first time I’ve used this R-Pod. It’s a 2010 RP174. I’ve let it run for 15 minutes and now it seems to be fine. Is this normal?

If the fan is on auto, then the fan will turn on and off while it is switching between high and low speeds. If you don't want this, you can select to have the fan on low or high, but then it will run constantly. On auto, the fan will turn off when the set temperature is reached. So, what you are experiencing sounds to me like it is normal.

Set the fan to run continuously and listen for the compressor to cycle on and off. The compressor sound is that deeper hum and should be followed shortly by cold air out of the vents. When the compressor shuts off you will continue to get cool air for a minute or two.

The compressor should stay on for a few minutes then off for a few. On a hot day once the interior of the trailer gets cooled down the compressor will be on about as long as it’s off or somewhat longer. If it’s short cycling, meaning it only stays on for about a minute or less then that’s either because it’s not hot enough to need much cooling or there’s something wrong. If the compressor runs continuously and it doesn’t cool down the trailer then there’s something wrong. I just leave my a/c fan run constantly when using the a/c because it’s more efficient that way.
