Hello, I just picked up my NEW 2020 R-pod Midwest RP-180 3 weeks ago. At the time of purchase, the original television that came with it was not in the unit. I asked about it and they looked for another television on the lot and replaced with one they found in a different RV. I really didn't care as long as it was comparable size and worked, which is was and it did. At that time I just turned it on to be sure it came on - no more than that.

I am on my third trip and used the television for the first time Thursday night (2 nights ago) - I used an HDMI cable and streamed some shows from my laptop. It worked just fine. Tonight I cannot get it to turn on? It has power to it. All lights are lit - it is plugged in properly, nothing changed. Everything else in Trailer is working fine. Checked breaker box - ok there. Green light comes on bottom right when I press button but nothing happens. Any magic anyone can offer?

Thanks!

Welcome and congratulations on your new RPod. I hope you have many fun adventures and make many great memories with it.

Unfortunately, this is not one of them. However, it would be helpful to give the brand and model number of the television.
First thing: You are on AC power, correct? I think you are because of the description you give, but it does not hurt to make sure.

Second, you watched using an HDMI cable. Are you trying to watch television? If so, have you changed the input so that it is the proper setting for what you want to do? It could be on, but the screen could be blank because there is no input. I'm guessing here.

Third, you could have been the quality control step that manufacturers seem to be leaving out nowadays. It might be bad. However, if you have a manual for it, please check it to see if it has troubleshooting steps.

Welcome. Try resetting it by unplugging it for a minute and then plugging it in again. And use the buttons on the set itself to turn it on and select inputs, rather than the remote, just to be sure its not the remote that's the problem.

And, if you are trying to watch television, have you scanned for channels, and is the power to the antenna turned on?

Television not working? That's a good thing! Nothing on but bad news and politics...which are kinda the same thing most of the time...So go outside and enjoy 'camping'!

Thumbs Up

I agree about "television", never watch it.

But selectively streaming films via hdmi from a device can be a great rainy day alternative. We particularly like "Jaws" and ""The Perfect Storm" at the beach and "Wrong Turn" and "Cabin in the Woods" while in the mountains. Adds to the ambiance. LOL

I've never turned my tv on. But I do, often watch downloaded stuff on my HD tablet (I suspect the picture is better than the tv anyway). In case any podders are unaware, Netflix and Amazon Prime now allow you to download and save movies/TV series; great for for when there's no internet and doesn't even use camper power.

News and sportsball are available on the tune-in radio app if you have internet.

The 720p resolution of the TV is just fine for the application because its a small screen that you're not sitting very close to. You wouldn't be able to visually detect the difference with a higher resolution monitor at that size and distance. If you connect your device to it via hdmi and also use bluetooth to connect to the rPod's audio it creates a pretty decent AV system. I stream video from my phone no problem, and also stream Spotify to the audio system when we just want to listen to music. You can also send the audio to the outdoor speakers, but if you're not boon docking in a remote spot do keep the volume down, nothing is more annoying than having to listen to another camper's music selections.

I have XM radio, which is way better. And no TV needed.

And what is this...'rain' you speak of?

Confused

Nah, XM is not better than Spotify. 60 million tracks at your fingertips vs 150 channels where you have to listen to what they send you when they send it, just like the bad old days of TV.

Welcome in2thefire,  StephenH has touched on a few things that may help but I have a couple of questions for you.
Is your Rpod sitting outside where you can get to it?
When you had the HDMI cable plugged in, did you have to do a "TV input" selection to get it to work?  Need to know if you know how to to change the "input" to the television.
On the wall of the Pod, there is a face plate with the TV cable connected to it.  Next to the connection there is a small button that must be pushed to receive a signal, that is the power StephenH was referring to.
Those things we need to know before we can help any farther.  If you cant do it now, we can wait.  We do a lot of waiting as you can tell, no ones watches TV. LOL

In the boonies with no cell service it is 100% better. Satellites, ya know.

And BTW...XM also has all of those on-demand tracks, customized channels, and Pandora integration, (with streaming) so you cant win this.

You guys are all funny! LOL Yes, not watching news right now, ugh, I just catch up on headlines via phone daily. I bought the R-Pod primarily for work so I can travel and not have to fly and stay in hotels. So watching TV at night or reading is normal for me as I am alone when I travel for work. I'm not as worried about the actual plane and hotel rooms, as I can clean those areas, but worried more about exposing myself to lots of different people who are coming in and out of hotels and airports every day and choosing not to wear masks as they go out and about doing whatever they are doing.

Regardless, the television should WORK as the R-Pod is brand new.:).  I was only trying to use HDMI cable to watch what I was streaming on laptop on larger screen. I tried all of your suggestions and NO GO. The Thule auto extend awning arms were not working/locking so the dealer ordered new arms, so waiting on those to arrive, so now will contact them about Television.

Also, my air conditioner unit on the ceiling has two problems - one or more of the vents openings doesn't blow air out and the slide cover to close the large opening is cracked.

ALSO, unless I have the Air conditioner and furnace both on AUTO, when I try to run one, the other also runs simultaneously. Sigh. At least there is a "fix" for it. I have to have both of them set to "Auto" for them to run independently.

Hi Tom,

Yes, originally, when the television worked, when on/off button at bottom right of unit was pressed and light turned from red to green, the unit came on with a blue screen and white text with some name (can't remember). Then when I plugged in HDMI cable, I hit the INPUT button until it showed my laptop screen on the television. So, yes, I do know how to choose the correct input. And yes, small button was pushed and the little red light next to it was on.

Now, the television screen remains black, does not come on at all when I turn the on/off button to on/green.

Sure I can win this, 'cause I'm a cheapskate. I pay zero for Spotify, XM costs $$$. Star

Rain is this really neat stuff composed of hydrogen oxide in liquid form. It condenses from the vapor phase in the atmosphere here in the East in these things we call clouds. When it reaches the ground it is absorbed by the indigenous plant life allowing for a process we call photosynthesis, which extracts carbon from the atmosphere using sunlight and fixes it in the plant material. This results in the plants turning a pleasant green color and becoming saturated with the hydrogen oxide so they don't experience random combustion events and burn the whole place to a cinder. Pretty cool huh?

In2thefire confirmed there is power to the TV.

It does sound like a dead TV to me but just for giggles you might want to remove it from the mount (4 screws), bring it in the house, and try again to turn it on. If that doesn't work it needs to be replaced. Consider getting a dual 12V/120V one as a replacement, that way you can use it when not on hookups.
