Hi all,

I recently moved out of my apartment after losing my job and getting the urge to travel and see beautiful places. Being a big outdoor person and fan of camping, I figured I’d combine my passion for traveling and my love for camping and purchased a 2016 Rpod 180. I love it & recently traveled from NJ to FL. Im staying here for a few weeks before I plan to start my trek westward. Considering the time of the year I planned on taking a I-10 route o stay south and try to avoid some colder temperatures and poor weather. Im sure ill still endure wuite a bit of it but figured this would minimize my chances. I also planned on taking my time stopping quite a bit along the way so It wasnt arriving on the west coast so early in the winter season. I dont have a time frame necessarily as I am going to be living out of the trailer and traveling til its time to settle somewhere or make my way back to the East Coast.

I would love any suggestions on places that are a must see or any places of interest you fellow RVers have found throughout your travels. SE and SW. I am 28 years old and am trying with my girlfriend. No kids or pets. Im looking simply to see amazing places and experience the best of what life has to offer. We love traveling, nature, hiking and camping. I do plan on boondocking quite a bit but campgrounds, and parks are not out of the picture. I plan on switching it up based on where and what is going on. No suggestion is a bad one.

Also any advice for making a journey of this distance and during the winter time of the year is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and look forward to the feedback. Happy RVing!

You'll get plenty of suggestions, so I'm just going to drop one.  We ran FL to NV in October 2019.  We visited New Orleans and easily parked our 2016 Rpod 180 in a municipal lot just a few blocks (easy walk) from the French Quarter.

A little pricey for nothing but space, but you can't beat the location!

Welcome!

Not sure where you are in Florida but I wanted to tell you about the Florida State Forest System, in case you don't know. This is separate form our state park system and offers lots of basic camping (some free some $9 per night). No amenities but really nice....and available, which is something hard to find in FL. https://www.fdacs.gov/Divisions-Offices/Florida-Forest-Service/Our-Forests

You could spend a few days in Southeast Arizona and around Tucson making day trips from base camp. the Coronado National Forest is composed of Sky Islands there that go up to 11,000 feet. There may be some snow at the higher elevations but Tucson is at only 2000 feet.  It gets cool in the night time but not freezing there.

Historical Fort Bowie is a short hike

Tombstone is pretty much original including Boot Hill cemetary

The historical town of Bisbee has cooper mine tours.

Karcher Caverns

Saguaro National Park

Chochise's Stronghold in the Dragoon Mountains

Road up to the top of the Catalina Mountains

Lemon Rock Lookout is a short hike

We made it as far as NOLA and have vehicle issues and turned back home (NH). I'm heading back this February to continue and hit Grand Isle onward.

St Georges Island State Park was wonderful ! Gulf National Seashore was booked up. Many places along Gulf to stop and enjoy though! We tried not even to run along I-10 and ran closer to the shoreline as much as possible.

Some of this in Arizona is not for the light-of-heart towing a trailer, be aware of this.

Take your time, enjoy the run!
Safe Travels!
