Hi y'all,

Our small family of mom, dad, and 3 year old (plus dog) just picked up a 2016 179. I have a Sprinter and spent a bunch of time and energy trying to figure out a conversion for it that would let us adventure in relative comfort before I gave up. The toddler needs his own bed and bench seat and car seat and while we could make it work it was never going to be fun.

Picked this 179 up almost on a whim, was browsing Craigslist looking for a bed platform for the van when it popped up. Checked out some videos, decided we liked it, and here we are. Didn't do a whole lot of research on this one but we're excited. We have 4 camping trips lined up already this summer, including a 2500 mile road trip over 17 days.

This is our first RV so we'll have lots of questions! Glad there is a forum like this for us to turn to.

Welcome to your 24/7 live owners manual and congratulations on your 'new' 179.  Although the 179 is no longer made I would surmise that the majority of members of this forum still own that particular model - it has a very user friendly layout.

Make a bunch of great memories this summer with your family as you travel this blessed land.  Questions?  Ask away as there are a lot of 'seasoned R-Podders' who are here to assist.  We have benefited greatly from other members expertise on this forum over the years.

Congratulations on your purchase. Our first RPod was a 179 and I really liked the lay-out, size and convenience of it. As you monitor this site you'll see some great modifications that some owners have done, and discover where parts and cubbyholes are. Look at several before you jump in. All the best to you and the family in your adventures!

Congrats! I've had my 179 for over 5 years and made many memories in it. I'm moving on to a 196, which is essentially a 179 on steroids.

Thanks! The 196 looks very nice. Maybe in a few years we'll follow in your footsteps...
