Not exactly a camping adventure since we haven't gotten on the road yet, but the preparations have been adventurous.  Left the dealer with my "new" 2018 179 with the front end of my Tacoma sticking up and a very unstable situation. . . they just waved 'g'bye'. drove the 300 mis. home in that condition thinking "this is not going to work."
Got great advice here to get a WDH.  Got it.  took the truck and R-pod 10 mis to a flat parking lot (I live on a very rural mountain in WV).  Could not get it adjusted properly.  Was very frustrated.  On the way home, severely damaged the steps and the read corner jack on our lovely WV roads.
I was ready to sell it at this point.  Took it to a "local" RV dealer (35 mis away).  Told wife on the way this was not going to work out and we probably would not be doing our big "out west" trip this summer.
It took two guys at the dealership 1.5hrs. to fix the steps and jack (they were seriously messed up), install a brake controller (which the original dealer never even mentioned) and fix the WDH.
It now drives great.  I got out on the interstate and actually removed my hands from the wheel and it tracked perfectly and we are ready to leave for a month on the road on Monday.
I am disgusted with my original dealer.  They let me drive away with a very unsafe rig.
Setzer's RV of Huntington, WV were great!  Good service, good advice and very reasonable price for all the work they did.
I hope y'all don't mind the long update.  I'm excited after investing a fortune in this endeavor it looks like we may actually see the sights from Moab to Monument Valley.

One other thing. . . bought over $200 of items from "Camping World."  Ordered 19 days ago.  Still have not arrived and won't arrive in time for our trip.  I spent a couple hours on the phone trying to talk to someone.  Finally did and they tried to tell me order could not be cancelled.  Hopefully it was as I'm heading out to Dick's today.

Unless they have a really good price on something, I avoid Camping World.

I'd be interested in who your original dealer was.  I'll never buy anything from them just because of distance, but attitudes like that need to be exposed.

If you have already purchased replacements, take them to your nearest Camping World unopened and get a refund. You may not get the shipping refunded, but you should be able to return the items.

Okay. About that Tacoma. Look into SumoSprings. I added them to our Frontier and they make a world of difference. Also, you should definitely be using a weight distribution hitch. If the dealer installed it, the dealer should also have adjusted it properly. If you don't have one, look into one ASAP. I am using the Equal-i-zer. The Progress Industries E2 is used by many as is the Andersen WD hitch. Your headlights should not be pointed skyward!

Hey, that's where my dad was born!  (Cookeville, not the RV place!)

Maybe we need a dealer/vendor Wall of Shame.

Had a similar experience with Camping World 9 years ago.  And because of that I have never attempted to purchase anything from them again.  Many other sellers who carry similar products at a much lower price and have a better disposition toward their purchasers.

Glad to hear about great RV centers that do fantastic work.  Our dealer was 4 hours away yet did a great job with our walk through and setting us up safely before leaving to travel home.  Hilltop RV in Escanaba, Michigan (in the U.P.).
