The night temperature allowed sleep with an open door; however, my wife wished confidence the screen was “somewhat” secure.   A tell-tale rattle would surely “wake us up.” Avoiding metal bolts/latches, consider this: Obtain an 8” length, small diameter dowel, toilet float rod or aluminum rod. This, to be inserted through the end of the screen door cross bar, the “grab” handle (if installed). The plastic end bracket requires a centered hole, the diameter of the dowel or rod. Since the grab bar is positioned inward from the screen, the rod does require a short wooden block or dowel of proper size, to snug around the door frame (this resembling a handle). Drill through the block or dowel (end to end) with the rod inset, permanently glued or otherwise fastened. When locked, screen door movement is minimized. Only those familiar know the screen door unlocks easily from outside, just hand unfastening, reaching through the plastic slider panel. Installation photos depict Forest River Rpod 179. For photos, see Forest River Forum, under heading "Rpods."
