Here are a couple of questions we would like to find answers to without more angst than is necessary!

1) Is there a manual slide out switch (gee we hope so)? If so, where is it and how does it operate? We could foresee some malfunction or power issue that might make the electric switch inoperable. Can't imagine you could drive down the road with the darn thing in the out position.

2) There is a white hose under the kitchen sink that is not connected to anything in our unit. Is that possibly a drain hose? This time we hope not because it would just drain directly onto the floor.

Thanks very much in advance. I am working on the premise that no question is a dumb question.

Can't help with the slide out question.

The unconnected white hose is used winterize the pod. You stick the hose into a jug of RV antifreeze and open the valve at the pump end of the hose to draw the antifreeze into the water system.

Do not think there is a manual slide out switch, but there is access to the slide out motor and evidently it can be actuated with something like a cordless drill. member_profile.asp?PF=716 - harleyguy1 sent me the information with pictures, but I seemed to have misplaced them somewhere in the vast black hole known as my operating system. If he reads this thread, I'm sure he will respond.

You have to get underneath the Pod and disconnect the slide mechanism to manually pull the slide out.  HuronSailor was right about the hose.

Terry,

You are a Floridian right? Have you ever had to winterize the Pod? We would never have guessed what the hose was for...thank you to everyone.

Psaman,

Thanks for the quick response..there is some generic information about using a drill in the generic owner's manual but no information on where the drill would be used. The generic owner's manual is a big

No, I haven't had to winterize down here.  It does drop down below 32* for a couple of hours but not cold enough and long enough to do any damage.

Manual Slide Out Question

Here is what we have discoverd...there is a metal, circular "wheel" that has a cotter pin in it located in the inner workings below the stove near floor level. It appears if you remove the cotter pin, you could attach a drill which is described in the generic owner's manual as the way to manually move the slide out.

Does this sound like anything anyone has experience with? If not, we will try and reach Forest River directly.

Thanks once again!

Thanks, Terry about the winterizing info. We are further south than you are and rarely get below freezing. It happens but not enough to worry, me thinks!

I am loving these questions.  I am going to be ready when I go camping for the first time.  Hopefully I can find the post I need when I need it!
