We spent the long weekend on the Chesapeake at Janes Island State Park, a Maryland State Park. Lot's of wooded sites with electric only RVs and tent sites. The park faces an island, basically a marsh with some wooded hummocks. It offers canoeing and kayaking as well as crabbing and fishing (hunting in season, too). Well kept, hot showers, clean and neat. No booze except indoors, so quiet and peaceful after dark. We did a canoe trip ourselves, something we haven't done for a decade! We used an easy up canopy because the shape of the pad and layout of the fire pit were not right for the pod dome, it was too close to the fire.
Gorgeous weather near the water, hotter and humid inland. Ask us for recommendations for fabulous dining in Crisfield, MD, the "Seafood capital of the world". We had some great crab dishes!!!
As everyone says, 10 mpg even on flat and level roads in our 04 3.7L Dakota was the best we could do, although we didn't hold up traffic at 58-62mph.
We saw only one other Pod, a 175 with FL plates parked in the storage yard at the park, apparently it arrived on Saturday, but didn't go camping, poor thing. From camps, we got a few inquiries, like, what does it weigh?
We are happy and tuckered out, but planning our next weekend in June, and probably as well the NE roundup in Maine in August, not to mention all the mods that HAVE to be done by then!

Here are some photos from our weekend on the Delmarva peninsula.

Ahhh, the advantages of tenting with electricity... Of course, the neighbors wanted their fresh and hot morning coffee, too....!

We saw some wildlife...this fella was parading back and forth in front of us on the beach. We think there was the den nearby and the idea was to keep us away.

Turtles were going from sea to shore and back to lay eggs in nests in the sand. We saw only one head out back to the sea, but lots of tracks:

The marsh area had at least 8 osprey nesting platforms scattered around the island marshes. This one was right across the canal from the park with all the humans watching - literally 200 feet - and has two chicks in it. Parents took good care of them - moving them around and feeding them. They were out hunting when this was taken.

Then back to the Pod for a quick nap and get ready for some fantastic soft shell crabs for dinner:

Thanks for the comments, y'all.
It was a fun journey; the Chesapeake has a history and culture of it's own that echoes other water and sea based societies. Coupled with the southern US generosity of spirit and a different physical environment from the northeast, it was a real treat for us.
We hope to continue exploring and sharing our experiences....for a long time to come.
