Has anyone ever gone to Jekyll Island in Georgia?  I was thinking to going there next week for a few days.

I love Jekyll Island.  It's not very commercial and has a lot of pre-Revolutionary War History, and the historical houses of the "Millionaires' Club" - the millionaires who used the island for their summer houses.  The campground - I haven't stayed there but I've driven by it - is at one end of the island I'm not sure that the campground, although near the ocean, is actually in walking distance of the beach itself, but it's not much of a drive if that's the case.  There's a couple of shops and a few places to eat -- no chain stores or restaurants -- but if you want those, Brunswick is just a short drive over the causeway.  We have friends who go there quite often, and my daughter has stayed there in her pop-up camper.  I've been there 3 or 4 times, but I've always stayed in a hotel.  Oh yes -- and the seafood is good there.   Have fun!

Terry,

Definitely go to Jekyll Island. It is a great area. One caveat, be prepared for the skeeters! Those buggers are huge there and can be quite pesky when the weather is conducive to their breeding.
