We have ordered a new R-Pod with air conditioner & antenna. Can anyone give us advice on a cover to accomodate? The only one I have seen does not accomodate air or antenna.

We look forward to being part of the R-Pod community.

178, 181g and 182g can purchase a cover from FR for $400 that fit it now.

Coming in December, the company that makes the previous 2 sizes that are cheaper and available online are launching a cover that will fit the 3rd size of Pods.  They have not shared pricing info as of yet in any correspondance I've had with them but their version should be available late this year.

Absolutely, I'll be keeping up with it because we may be buying for our 181g as well.

About the....
http://classicaccessories.com/rv/travel-trailer/rv-polypro-3-teardrop-trailer-cover.html - http://classicaccessories.com/rv/travel-trailer/rv-polypro-3-teardrop-trailer-cover.html

You can get this on amazon for $169.

These covers fit?   The websites all say it is 15'1"  and the stats of the 177 say 18'8"  .  People with 177's keep saying they got these but that is a 3 foot difference?  Does it still fit?   The FR one is way to expensive.  My 177 is a 2014.

Yes, it will fit.  The 18' 8" includes the tongue of the pod.  If you want to save $70, check out this web site.  http://www.meijer.com/s/classic-accessories-overdrive-polypro-iii-forest-river-teardrop-trailer-cover/_/R-211191 - http://www.meijer.com/s/classic-accessories-overdrive-polypro-iii-forest-river-teardrop-trailer-cover/_/R-211191
This is the same cover for $138 less $15.00.

I'm just trying to confirm that most think a cover is necessary?  My husband and I aren't in agreement - he thinks it will be fine without a cover all winter (in Utah), and I think a cover would be good to protect it.  Those that have them and those that don't - it would be great to hear how necessary you think they are?

Personally I have never used a cover  nor raised my tires.  I actually have no intention  to do so for whatever reason.  I wax mine with turtle wax wash & wax spray wax everytime i wash the pod (which is quite frequently) so it has a great coat of wax on it.  I use my pod year round, and just don't want to mess with a cover.  Note though that I did need to replace the vinyl trim on it this fall, so either i got a bad batch or the sun takes a beating on it.   No objection to a cover, I just don't want the hassle and want access to it 24 hours a day!!!!!   hogone

I don't think you need a cover... I mean it is made for the outside.  That being said.. I got one, mainly because I store it all winter... covers help keep it clean, and helps keep the vents clear of most insects, leaves, and whatever other evilness could get in.     If you are going to store it without a cover at least tape up the vents.  Spider like to make nests inside the furnace  tube, sometime cutting off the propane feed.

Forest River now makes a cover for the 178 that is long enough.  It's pricy ($400), but it fit fine.  We have it on our 178 now.  Ours is parked outside and as the leaves began to fall the tannin was staining the top.  I cleaned it up before putting the cover on and since I still work, the savings in my time was worth it.

We used a couple of ladders to put it on and it took about 5 minutes.  Very easy.  Ditto for taking it off.  No problem with AC or antenna.

The one from FR you can call and buy now.

Lindsay Kring Parts Administrator 574-642-3119 Ext 209

The one from classicaccessories.com is not available until the first week of December for the 178, and 18xg sized models.

Also as an update for others Kris has confirmed we are still on track for a 1st week of December release of the new larger covers.

We have the Factory Pod cover in tan. going into its 3rd season shortly. no complaints. it is heavy and there is a trick to putting it on by yourself but I have a routine now and can put it on and tie it down in about 15 minutes. I like the heavy zippers on it. I also wander out there during the winter and open the zipper, flip on the electric heater and pop some corn in the microwave and watch some t.v. its kind of like a poor mans "Man Cave"

Smile  Just put our new cover (the one from Classic Accessories, ordered from Amazon) on the Froggie Pod. She's snug as a bug in a rug!  Easy as pie! 2013 177--fits perfectly!  BTW, our 177 had the hot water heater bypass kit already installed.  See y'all in the Spring!  Come to West Virginia--it's Wild & Wonderful!

Three years ago our factory cover was tan, now it is gray on the outside and still tan on the inside. I had it on and the 40+ mph wind that we had yesterday removed for me and was nice enough to leave it on the ground next to The POD (sorry no pictures of that moment). Used the JD POD mover to take it out next to the barn and put the straps on the front and the back to hold it in place. Should have put the straps on when I first put the cover on. Goose

I bought one form FR due to the fact it is made from canvas. It will not tear unless you make a real mistake putting it on. We did put it on this year in 5 minutes with one person on each side.

I am surprised that FR would sell canvas covers.  Most covers, tents, etc, today are made of synthetic fabrics due to the weight of canvas and the fact that it becomes moldy or mildewed so easily.

We purchased the Model 2 cover for our 2014 R Pod as it stated it would fit our 18 ft. R Pod (cover purchased through Amazon). Cover came right away at a great price, but they measure from the ball to the rear of the R Pod. No way could we get it to fit. Called Classic from the storage yard and they said we needed model 3 instead, which covers 20 ft. So going to return the short one and place an order for the larger model 3. Why do they include the footage in the trailer tongue if the cover isn't going to cover the tongue??? Does this make sense to anyone else???? Wanted to get the cover on before the big snow tonight!!
