After living in the escape pod for 53 days straight, we have flown to CA from VA and are at a really nice hotel in Berkeley. Got withrawal symptoms...

We'll be returning to pod life on Friday.

Is this condition dangerous?

not dangerous, I think, just life changing.

Whew.  We are heading out for our 3rd trip shortly and are excited.  When younger we enjoyed tent camping but somewhere along the line it became too difficult.  The r-pod for us is a great substitute.  Our use, however, is to head to remote high-desert lakes to enjoy the peace and quite, while doing a bit of fishing.
We aren't the sorts to spend a week on the road.  Only rarely have we ever taken a vacation that lasted a week.  But the pod is perfect for what we want to do.  It's interesting that others use the thing to be on the road for weeks.  I couldn't do it, but it interests me that other do.
Safe travels.

What hotel are you staying at in Berkeley?  I have a daughter there and I usually stay in Emeryville.

I completely understand the withdrawl symptoms.  The pod has made things so easy to "get away" there have been several times we've felt the symptoms so we booked at the local state park last-minute for the heck of it.  Couldn't do that with our popup - too much work before/during/after.  :-)

We will be heading out for six weeks on the road again this summer. We find Gastropod just right for our extended travels (except maybe the gas Ouch) For me the best part is the limited housework; do the dishes, sweep the floor and clean the bathroom now and then, pretty much covers it. Last year I even invented an automatic clothes washer to reduce laundromat stops. Take a 5 gallon pail with a tight fitting lid, half fill it with hot water and laundry soap and throw in some laundry. Place it in the shower and let it bump along the highway until stopping for the evening. Remove clothing, dump soapy water and give laundry a rinse and hang it on hangers or clothesline. That bucket is now called the washing machine.
I can't wait to hit the road again!

Dang good idea!  We'll be taking 2, possibly 3 trips around the US & Canada over the next few years.  2-3 weeks each, so laundry will need to be done.  We'll have to try that.
