Has anyone had the experience of being locked in your pod by the pod handle being closed over the door?  Robert saw the attached article and it is now added to his list of mods.

I would think that if anyone really wanted to screw with me, this might be one way they could do it.  Although, I'm really not that worried because the Pod does have an emergency exit window in the back.  Shocked

I'm not really worried, but Robert was a Safety Manager for over 30 years so safety is always the first thing he thinks about.  If it helps him sleep easier then I'm all for it.  I will try and post pics when he does the work

I would be (and am, now) worried about an emergency situation; a fire in the end where the exit window is, for example.... Scary thought..... Or another situation making the exit window not an option... Or my 5 year old hurt outside (probably from locking me in) and me stuck inside... I'm doing the mod this weekend.

Ok... I forgot to post an update.

I never did this mod. It turns out, that my pod (and I suspect other pods as well) has a safety feature here. The "detent" that the handle sits in when it is in the hold-the-door-closed position, actually has a slope on it. When in this position, only a moderate force is needed, on the door from the inside, and the handle flips out of the way. No lock-in situation can occur!

I did, though, take the opportunity to demonstrate, to my wife and 5 year old, how the Emergency Window exits work. I suggest the same for others. To convince yourself.... without cheating, just walk into your pod and immediately close your eyes to simulate a smoke situation. Then, keeping your eyes closed, try to clamber around, find, and open the emergency window. You might be surprised at how difficult it is (or even remember which side if the pod the window is on)!

Now I am confused.  I think we will have to switch sides halfway through the night to be able to have it both on the head and the foot.

Or sleep sideways so it is to your left, or right.  Or one of you sleep one way, and the other sleep the other way....

Ahhhhh, forget it.  Just sleep on the dinette so you can pile out of the door.
