Changed my original marker lights to LEDs. Every marker light drawes 3 watts now every light drawes 0.2 watts.  ------------- If you want something done right, do it yourself. 2011 RP172, 2016 Tundra 5.7 Litre, Ltd. |

eTrailer has them.. not very expensive. We did every one on the 'stream since they needed replacing anyways, I think it was about $30 for all of them, and the 'stream has way more lights than the pod..

| Does the lower current draw matter on the marker lights since they are powered by the vehicle 7way plug? Honestly, I'm asking because I don't know although I had previously made an assumption. |

I don't know if it is the current draw or not but I have burnt out three good quality light controllers on my jeep. It should not have happened but I have towed three different trailers with the jeep and the one that worked best had all LED lights because I built it myself. ------------- Sean, 2011 Rpod RP-173,2009 Jeep Liberty Rocky Mountain Edition

I agree, the current shouldn't matter much for the marker lights. BUT... the LED replacements should be much more reliable, and the the particular lights I used were brighter than the original bulbs while still using less power.

Led lights draw less current (amps) to answer the question. Here's the formula simplified: Volts X Amps is Watts. We also replaced all of our incandescent lights in our 171 POD. My immediate rationale was the heat that the incandescents were producing. The fixtures them selves were hot if not warm to the touch. I wanted them out of the POD as fast as I could get them out. The source I used was DH Gate and they sent them direct to us in about 1 week. Another source is WWW. Superbrightleds.com/ Prices are roughly the same but somewhat less from DH gate as they sell in lots. I bought ours in lots of 10 to have spares. In addition to the fact that LED's use less amperage, one of the better reasons to use them is that their life is extended by leaps and bounds over the incandescents. Plus, the newer LED's do have an "amplifier" built into them that will make the LED lights brighter than those in the past. In an aside to this answer, I also put LED outdoor floods up on the gables of our house up high so I don't have to worry about changing them up high anymore. One tip is to pay attention to two things: 1. The angle of the LED lens...viz., narrow or wide. 2. Color of the bulb itself. They are now sold in fundamentally 2 colors, the "daylight" color and the softer "warm" color. In our case, I put the daylights in the cabin area and the warm ones in the sleeping area. So, for a final tribute to LED's, I took a Home Depot "HOMER" bucket, cut a small hole in the top for outlet plug ($3), a plastic vinegar jar (free) that was washed out and inserted an 18 foot LED string ($20) into it with the plug coming out the top. I then put the vinegar jug with the LED string into it inside the Homer bucket. Now we have an Orange porchlight outside the pod when camping, or a bright white light to see stuff with by taking the lid off the homer bucket and pulling out the vinegar jug. Total cost was under $25.00 It all fits under the bed storage area. Go LED's, Burt |
