It seems like every camping spot Donna and I go to does not seem to have enough distance from the door of the Pod to the paved apron or trees or whatever. Has anyone measured what the distance is from the Pod to the end of the R Dome ? this way we can measure before trying to set it up and then , heck it wont fit, I might make a folding story pole to take with me , any one know what a story pole is ?

I assume that it is the same as a storey pole. A sick with layout marks on it that a carpenter uses to measure and layout walls it was usually one storey long hence storey pole although I think story pole is also used. Wood turners have a story stick which has the layout for the piece that they are going to turn on it. My Father was a Carpenter.

And I think the Dome is 8 feet wide this is ours set up below and the mat you see sticking out is 9' wide and it sticks out 1 foot.

One of the helpful features of the Florida State Parks web site is that they
give you the depth and width of each individual site so you have a pretty
good idea of how things will lay out.

We try for a depth of 30 ft. so that the TV, even if detached, will not protrude on the
loop drive, and a width of 20 ft. or so for the r-dome, (plus elbow room).
We almost always end up dragging the picnic table towards the rear of the
site to achieve the required clearance.
