Hello Podders. This is my first attempt at uploading images. I hope it works.
Current R-Pods lack any interior 12 sockets even though most
people have cell phones, music players, GPS mappers, or satellite radios that
require 12 volts for operation or charging. The following pictures show how I
installed four sockets in the dinette area of my 172. Although this solution is
specific to the RP-172 the idea is applicable to other models. Slide-out models
may limit access to the microwave cabinet, but anyplace you can get access a wall and a wire path
back to the power converter should work.
After removing the microwave there is plenty of room behind
to mount and wire the sockets. The existing hole for the shower pipes was used
to wire the sockets to position 9 on the power converter below the dinette
seat. Number 10 AWG wire was used and a 20A fuse installed.
The sockets are Blue Sea model 1011 available from Amazon.
They can be mounted through hole as I did or surface mounted if rear access is
limited:

As an engineer, two must have 12V plugins for the sockets are
the Equus battery monitor and Mediabride High Output USB charger. Voltmeters
are always better than lights. Both are available at Amazon:

Good luck to all.
