We finally had a weekend clear of the incessant snow we have been having here in Colorado (can't complain too much, spring snows keep down the summer wildfire danger...but still...) - so off we went for a shakedown in the brand new 178.  This is our first ever RV.  What a fun experience Big smile we didn't go too far (nearby state park), and everything worked wonderfully! What fun, we are very excited to finally be "podding" rather than just reading about podding on the forum! Can't wait for a longer trip - thanks for all the good advice and help on this forum.  If anyone has a favorite campsite in Colorado, please let us know! Smile

Great, sounds like a fun shakedown trip. We also are ready for our first time out on our third season. Only were able to make two trips the first year we bought the pod (2011) I hated to winterize it with just two trips under our belt. Donna put new sheets and pillow cases on the bunks. I have taken care of all the mechanicals and everything on the outside. Check wheel bearings, correct tire pressures including the spare, as they always go down over winter. We are going for a two nighter in Hoosier National Forest on Mothers day weekend. Can't wait. Love the 80 foot Jack Pine Trees and the sound the wind makes blowing through them. Might hear some Turkeys gobbling in the morning. I don't miss the crows setting outside the window and cawing to wake me though.

We love camping at Rocky Mountain National Park.  It is one of the best places ever as far as I am concerned. Nothing like waking up with elk on your site!

Have to agree with Keith - N - Dar!  Rocky Mountain National Park is a favorite of ours.  A close number two would be Mueller State Park where you can see the back-side of Pike's Peak from the campsites, it is a grand park.  We do like the National Parks better though because with no electricity available, it does weed out a small amount of the riff raff. Lord willing, we hope to get out your way next summer.

The Park might not like it if you had poached elk in the campground.

Poaching is never a good method.. grilling is better..

Wink

We also eat venison almost every camping trip.. well nearly every time we have meat.. but that's a different forum. LOL

And WELCOME to podding!

Congratulations on your pod purchase and first adventure! It gets easier and better every time you use it. There is nothing I'd rather be doing than podding somewhere...anywhere!
