I have noticed from the pics of your tow vehicles and RPods that many of you don't use sway bars when hitched.  Are they necessary?  I have a set and have always used them, but I don't know if I really need them.  Thoughts?

My tow vehicle is a GMC Canyon.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and Happy New Year!

I think most r-pod owners use them but I think it depends upon the tow vehicle if you are able to tow safely with out them. If you feel safe and if you have good control of your tow vehicle while towing I guess tow with out them.       David

I have a 176 pulled with an V6 4L FJ Cruiser.  Never felt any need for sway bars.  But, I don't have any and have never pulled a trailer with them so I don't know what I'm missing.  If I had sway bars I'd certainly try towing with and without them, or I'd just tow with them, on the theory that it's better to be safe than sorry.

I know way too little about Canyons to comment on how it might do for you.

Only once I thought that they might of come in handy, crossing New Mexico with 45 to 50 MPH winds. The wind from a fast moving front stay with us all day from Albuquerque to almost Dodge City. If we had an extra day I would have stayed put in Albuquerque. Goose
