Come join us in beautiful eastern Kentucky for the 2014 R-Pod and friends get together at Carter Caves State resort park. The park is one of the jewels of the state resort system. We currently have 16 sites taken and another 4 on hold, with possibly more available. They are water/electric, $80.50 total for the three nights. They tell me as soon as the snow melts, they start filling up fast.. Reservations can be made starting the 4th of February by calling (606) 286-4411 and letting them know you are with the R-pod group. Site numbers are 38-60. (minus 46) You cannot do this through Reserve America, you must talk to the park. We plan on coming to this event!! First we went on line to reserve a spot and it appears the spots you saved 38-48 (minus 46) can NOT be reserved on line. So then we called Carter Caves to reserve a spot for this event and was told they are closed for the winter. What is the next step? Did we miss some instructions somewhere? Call the number, (606) 286-4411) ,tell them you are wanting to make reservations for the June R-Pod rally. You cannot make reservations in the held block on-line. They had it figured out yesterday. This is not the way they usually do their reservations, obviously. If whomever you talk to can't figure it out or doesn't understand, ask them to talk to Chris Perry, he is the manager of the park, and is who I spoke to directly to set it up. But the staff at the desk is supposed to know the deal. ------------- |

I called again (I did use that number last time I called) and this time I spoke to a person (last time was a machine) and was successful in making our reservation, we reserved site 41. YAH

Glad you got through.. they are kind of a strange place to get ahold of. Took me several tries to talk to someone and get it set up. I think, now that they have done it, it should work out. Our old Airstream group goesthere every year, but what they do is a big bunch of coordination, and then all go on R.A. at the same time and make their reservations... I don't think we are, or want to be, quite that organized..lol ------------- |

We just signed up today for Lot 50 at the R-Pod Rallye June 19-22 at Carter Caves. Spoke with Matt (606-286-4411) who was very helpful. There are 4-5 camp slots still available. See y'all there. copy and paste from FB group: Ok.. so apparently I am going to be hounded about a schedule mercilessly, like people need time to prepare or something.. I try very hard to live my life without a schedule, but for those who need a structured environment, I think we will schedule a couple things.. There will be a whiteboard at site 43 or thereabouts with information. Name badges will be at site 43 starting Thursday.. Friday evening, at 7:30 pm, we will do a "mods and pods walk". Meet at site 43 (ours) and we will go pod to pod of those who show up and/or want to participate, and as we get to each pod, the owner can discuss/show off their podmods and decorations. Saturday morning(ish) time TBA, I plan to do a instal of a window in the door of furpod. All podders are welcome to come watch, ask questions, etc, while I cut a hole in our pod, and hopefully fill it with a porthole window. Weather and such may affect this. Saturday evening, 6:00 pm, we will have a hot dog roast. It will be at Tink's site if possible, I honestly am not sure about the CG layout yet, 1st time for us too. Furpod will supply dogs,buns and condiments. "Dog sticks" etc may be handy if you have them.. Tink will supply the cooking heat and rack... Rally goers are asked to bring a side or dessert. Potato salad, pasta salads, beans, chips, are always good choices. It's always tricky to know who is bringing what.. so as a general and loose plan, if your last name is in the first half of the alphabet, try for a side, and if in the second, try for a dessert should work out OK.. There are lots of things to do in the area, so I don't want to clog up a lot of time for people to be able to visit meet and socialize.. Again, it's a dry county.. pack accordingly.
