Greetings,

I purchased a model R-177 on Saturday (great camper).

And now, I need assistance.

I attempted to utilize battery power to test the lights, cooler, etc.  And I engaged the gas to test the range and cooler.  The range works perfectly.  But none of the electrical devices operate.

Any advice?

Many thanks!!

Is you battery charged?

There is no switch for the 12v, you either do, or do not have 12v available.

If you are plugged into shore power then you should have 12v available via the converter, along with 120v, of course.

BTW, this was purchased new, or used?

Thanks for your reply, and advice!

The camper is new.

I'll check the battery (looks new) and the connections.

Thanks again!

If you have the pod at home, you can use an adapter to plug your shore cable into a heavy extension cord and then into a regular wall outlet in the garage etc.As long as you don't turn on the microwave a/c and water heater at the same time, it should be ok. This should allow the converter to charge your battery. If your battery is completely dead, it will take a while.

BUT it seems strange that a pod came from the dealer with a dead battery.. did you get a walk through at delivery? If so, did the stuff all work then?

Thanks for the great advice!

The dealer ( Chilhowee RV in Knoxville ) did not perform a walk-through at delivery.  Such a strange oversight.

I plan to utilize a dealer in Asheville for all future business transactions.

Bob,

If you can, check the battery right at the battery terminals. If it's dead, try the recharge mentioned above. If the battery checks greater than 12 volts check the converter. The converter has two large fuses to protect against reverse connection. If the battery was connected backwards, even for an instant during installation, the fuses will be blown and the battery will neither charge nor discharge. The FR color coding is confusing to some so it may have been hooked up wrong at some time. That's what walk-throughs are for.

Hello Bob.  Congrats on your new Pod!  I believe we saw that pod last Wednesday it was set up just to the right of the sales room.  From our experience at Chilhowee RV in Knoxville I am not surprised they did not perform a walk-through at delivery.  We had a bad experience there and will never return.

Instead we bought our Pod on Thursday from a different dealer.

Check the battery cables at the battery.  They can look good but they might need cleaning and tightening down.  Check the other ends of the cables.  Sometimes wiggling the cables will get things to work temporarily.  If that does any good clean and tighten the cables all around.  Could be anything, but check the simple stuff first.

Bob, I'm curious.  Did you ask for a walk through?  Everytime we have visited Chilhowee they have talked about the walk through after the RV is selected.  Since we're negotiating with them now, I'm wondering why they didn't perform a walk through with you.
Thanks. Ann

Hi Ann,
They mentioned that they would perform a walk-through at delivery, but they disappeared as soon as I arrived.  They have a nice selection, and reasonable prices, but their customer service is in need of improvement.
Hope all goes well for you.
Bob
