Wink In shopping around before settling on a R-Pod 178, I noticed that most of the trailers we looked at touted a bright metal shield at the front bottom of the vehicle. The purpose was to protect the trailer from rocks and other road debris thrown up by the two vehicle. The R-Pod has no such protection. My question: Has anyone out there had their Pod damaged by the lack of a shield? Or is the construction strong enough so a shield is not needed?

I think if you were towing on unpaved roads the rock guard shield would be helpful but on paved highways I don't think it would be that important. This is my own personal opinion hopefully someone with more experience could give you a better answer.

Mine doesn't have one and after 15,000 miles, no damage.

I just passed 5 years of r-pod ownership - like Doug, I don't have a shield and there's no damage to the trailer.
