We picked up our 2016 178 2 days ago.  Managed to back it in the drive and am now trying to figure out what to do before taking it out for the first time.  Big change from pitching a tent.  Found a leak in the back window over the bed.  I'm thinking of Judy caulking instead of taking it back to the dealer.  Any thoughts about a self fix?Embarrassed

Howdy from San Antonio, welcome and congratulations on your new 178, we have one as well. I certainly would be inclined to spend a few minutes spreading some silicone over the hassle with the dealer to do the same.

A heads up. If you don't keep the POD plugged in 24/7 to maintain the battery, one of the first things you are going to want is a method (switch or plug) to disconnect the battery. The POD has about a .5 amp draw at idle which will destroy your battery in just a few weeks.

Welcome.  With many things I would agree that you should take care of it yourself.  Years ago there were problems with the rear window seals which required the window to be removed and re-mounted.  In this case since you are under warranty I would take it back.  You want that seal to be done right and since it can be done for free, take advantage of that.

I've had http://www.rpod-owners.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=979&PID=46906&title=stoltzfus-rv-in-adamstown-pa#46906 - my own fill of bad RV service experiences courtesy of complete idiots that should have known better so I know what you are trying to avoid.  But this fix is one for the dealer - one that knows what they are doing hopefully.

We also just bought our RPod 178 a couple of weeks ago. And also have noticed that the bottom part of the rear window is not caulked. So you have 3/4 of the window caulked. The serivece guy at the place we bought our 178 says: " Water doesn't travel upwards, so no reason to caulk that area." Pretty lame response, in my opinion. I think i might seal that part myself. We've survived the first storm here and no water damage noticed. Looking forward to taking it for trip to the coast in 9days.

Welcome, I don't think it's a lame response my back window is calked on top and half way down the sides, the side windows have no calking at all. All the windows have gaskets, the only reason that they calk the top part of the back window is because all the water that runs of the roof hits the top molding of the window.

Thanks all. We took it back since there was no calking at all and a light had to be repaired.  It was worth the visit because we needed a more thorough run through.   First one was done by one of the service guys who did not seem too familiar with the rpod.  Second run through was with a guy who took his time to cover everything.  Covered keeping it plugged in with an adaptor until I get a 30 amp outlet installed.  Our first trp is next week.  We hope to hook with some other podders soon.Thumbs Up

Welcome, def think taking it back was the right move with it being under warranty.  Being a good DIYer in the future will pay off though so don't worry.

Welcome! We bought our 178 last year and love it! Found a leak around the spoiler area but no leaks around the window. Happy Camping!

The caulking around the spoiler needs to be touched up every now and then.
