Just put a deposit on a 2016 model 179. Very excited and can't wait to use it. This is our first camper. We've been tent camping for 20+ years and finally decided to sleep comfortably. The places we enjoy going to have shore power, so I think it'll work great. We have two young kids and a very large dog, so the 179 should have plenty of space for everyone.

We got the 179 with the R-dome, power tongue jack and Equalizer tow package. We'll be using my 2014 Ford Raptor to tow it, so I don't think we'll have any issues going anywhere.

Can't wait to hang out here and learn from everyone.

Enjoy your new home away from home.  Enjoy God's great outdoors, enjoy your family, and be prepared to give tours of your new 179.  We have had our 177 for 5 years now and still usually end up giving at least 1 tour to a curious/interested camper who wants to see what's inside the pod.

Welcome.  I lived in Eastern NC for about 11 years. We visit NC every year since I left. This summer will be our first trip in our Rpod 178.  We purchased it last fall but haven't camped in it yet.  Can't wait to go out this year.

Welcome!
We are in Chapel Hill and  have owned our 173for 5 years. We love it and use it a lot on long distance, multi- week trips. there are several other podders around the area. There are a lot of good people on this forum, and a lot of great ideas and excellent help and information.
Feel free to explore and ask questions-there are always a lot of opinions and answers, mostly based on real experiences.
Where did you buy your pod?

Wow nice choice on the floorplan but an even better choice on the TV.....a Raptor 150?....Nice I am envious, makes my 3.5 Ecoboost 2014/F150 seem rather "underpowered"....lol.....

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. We bought the Rpod at Country Roads RV in Lexington. There weren't many places in NC that had them and we wanted to buy from a local dealer, not a national chain. They were great. I was pleased with their service and their price.

We just booked site 69 loop 2 at Holly Point campgrounds at Falls Lake for my birthday on the weekend on April 2 & 3. Anyone in the area is welcome to join us.

It's a tough time of year for me as a tax accountant. I need to take advantage of every minute of relaxation I can get.

We off-road quite a bit, so I'm hoping the rpod can keep up. I need to find out if there are any off-road modifications that can be made.

Here's a recent photo from an off-road run a bunch of us Raptor owners took to White Lake, NC. There were 21 of us and we had a blast!

My wife and I will look forward to seeing you there. We jut booked for site # 52, Loop 2 at the Holly Point campground at Falls Lake. We will be there when you arrive as we are booked for arriving the 1st and leaving on the 4th.

Perhaps this is the start of a "Down East" pod rally. Big smile

I'll see you there Stephen. We actually arrive on April 1 and are booked through the 4th, but leaving on Sunday evening. I won't be there on April 1 much, but should be there plenty on the weekend.

Any kids or pets coming along? We have an 8-year old girl and a very large dog.

Our daughters are grown-up and we have grandchildren. However, they are out west. We don't have any pets, partly because of my wife's asthma. However, we don't mind them in the least. We'll have some obligations so we also won't be there the whole weekend, but much of our time will spent there.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I can't wait for tax season to end so I can get out and enjoy this thing! We just ordered a new mattress because the one that comes with it is horrible. Got a 10" memory foam mattress from Amazon that seemed to have great reviews (4.6/5 with more than 3,000 reviews).

We'll see how comfortable it is. Also got a Keurig single-cup coffee brewer and a few odds and ends.

Hurry up April 18!

We really enjoyed meeting you. I got some ideas for mods from your newer 179. The big one is going to be changing the track for the kitchen window curtain and putting in rods like yours has. That one should not cost much. I think a power jack is in our future after seeing yours. Smile

Thanks Stephen. We enjoyed meeting you and your wife. I feel like you drew the short stick though. I think I got a lot more out of it than you. Our visit to your pod is going to cost me dearly. My wife already ordered last night the tongue rack from Stromberg Carlson!

There's a few things we're going to do to our pod in the coming months:

- riser lift
- larger off-road tires
- tongue rack
- shelf above the bed
- new bracket for TV (swivel and tilt)
- double steps
- additional dump hose tube (for extension)
- battery cut off
- some sort of wall organization system in the kitchen

We really enjoyed our maiden voyage and were pleased overall with the pod, but a little disappointed with the fit and finish. Very cheap materials and poor craftsmanship. It's very clear they cut corners to manufacture an inexpensive and competitive product. It doesn't bother me too much because I can fix most of it and it reduces the price of the trailer.

We need to organize a pod meet n greet somewhere in the Carolinas this fall. We're in!
