Brand new rpod. Soft brakes?

I drove home from taking delivery on an rpod 180, 2016. I thought the trailer brakes were going to be more effective in stopping.

The tech set the controller ato 3.0. He said It felt good. (In the dealer parking lot, slow speed.

While driving 110 miles home I set the controller to maximum. 13.0. I finally felt something assist from the trailer

1. Is there a brake-in period? Should I just wait?
2. Does self adjusting help? Reverse, brake. Forward, brake, repeat
3. Does anyone else have this issue?
4. Am I expecting too much out of the trailer braking?
5. What's wrong?

I have a 2015 179 RPOD, and I have to set the trailer gain to 8 (out of 10). That's with a 2016 RAM 1500 truck. Before the RAM I had a 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500, and I had to set the trailer gain at the same amount, so I assume it's not the vehicle, but the trailer. I figure that's how it works with this trailer, and it seems to work fine, so I live with it. You may want to call the dealer with your questions.

Not sure which brake controller you have the following are the instructions for user adjustment of the Primus IQ.

Adjusting the Power to the Trailer Brakes (Prior to setting Boost) Once the control has been securely mounted within the 0 to 70-degree range, it is necessary to set the power needed to stop the trailer during a braking event.

1. Connect trailer to tow vehicle.

2. With engine running hold manual full left and set Power Knob to indicate 6.0

3. Drive tow vehicle and trailer on a dry level paved surface at 25 mph and fully apply manual knob. ✓ If trailer brakes lock up: ❑ Turn power down using power knob. ✓ If braking was not sufficient: ❑ Turn power up using power knob.

4. Repeat Step (3) until power has been set to a point just below wheel lock up or at a sufficient force as to achieve maximum braking power.

5. Using the brake pedal, make a few low speed stops to check the power setting. Trailer braking is initiated and terminated via the stoplight switch. When the brake pedal is released, trailer braking will cease

Thanks for your suggestion. I think my brakes have Grease on the brake pads. Because they smell a little bit when first used. I increase the Boost to number 2 level. not low, but medium, not high. The brakes seem to be pulling some. That's good.
