Nice find!

It almost makes me regret the 2017 I just bought... oh well.

More mods on the list for me then! :)

If any of you are near the Hershey PA show this September, Forest River will have 5 of these new Diamond Ice Pods there for display!

Looks like they've been paying attention to the most-added mods around here, good additions.

I want the stovetop, but that should be easy.  I have the tube already.  Wonder what the change in vent cover does to Maxxair.  I added a LP hookup for 15 bucks when I bought mine.  They should have a line item for "more attention to detail" if you know what I mean.

here's an email quote I got from from Scott Rhode at FR "Axle risers can be added by the dealer.  They won't void warranty as long as they don't cause any issues.  OR with 15" tires has more ground clearance due to the size of the tires.  The frames are the same."   Kymooses or anyone else, can you explain to us the 4" increased ground clearance on the HRE  and how it's done please.  I know it's not just the tires but am really confused.  We are ready to pull the trigger on a new 179 but this issue is of a big concern to us.

On the HRE R-Pods ONLY there is something they call a crush tube being added to the framing to give it the extra height that the western Hood River Edition R-Pods are quoted to have.   The HRE R-Pods are now from the factory that much higher than Pods in the East.

Eastern Pods can still have risers added if you want them.

kymooses thanks for that info.  we are looking at an east coast model versus traveling to get an HRE because our vacation would be out west next year so we really could go either way.  Would you have any thoughts pro or con on getting the east coast with axle risers.  Asking because we are planning the big Alaska trip and having been there before I think clearance could be a good thing.  Thanks much

We have plenty of Owners who travel Alaska, none have permanently removed the bottoms of their R-Pods before.  An HRE would still be higher but unless you are traveling over small roads made of boulders you'll be fine with risers on a Pod made in Indiana.
