Hey Leo!

I'm starting to see reports that Hurricane Mathew might make fishing interesting around Hatteras next week. Keep your head down!!

Stopped at Chincoteague island for a few days Wednesday to Saturday quite the experience 9 inches of rain in two days
Flooded the causeway and a good part of the campground.
Fished on Assateague island two days though it was a tad windy and wet. Didn't catch anything there.
Made it to Cape Hatteras this afternoon.
Everybody is watching Matthew but so far the weather here is really nice!!

Going to handle Mathew like the rain in Chincoteague, I saw this older fisherman and asked him if we should be worried about all the rain on the island, he looked at me and said no need worrying about, just watch the locals, if you see them headed off island, get in lineThumbs Up so that is my plan.............so far

Thanks for the Assateague  skeeter update. We were gonna head down next week. I think we'll wait another couple of weeks to see if they get blowed away.

Ha!! I wish! I have put in about 18 hrs of fishing over the last four days. Have only caught two fish🤔
No one up or down the beach are having any luck. Looks like we are going to head inland for a few days to see what Mathew is going to do.

Any idea where you might head? If you come in as far as the Raleigh area, let me know. We live in Wake Forest. While I don't have anywhere for you to park your Pod, I can recommend the http://www.ncparks.gov/sites/default/files/ncparks/maps-and-brochures/falls-lake-hollypoint.pdf - Holly Point campground at Falls Lake State Park.

Thanks StephenH!! We came in to Roanoke Rapoids to the Carolina Crossroads RV resort. Really a great park! Just came out of the pool and hot tub!
Meeting a lot of people that are getting away from the coast to see what's going to happen.
Appreciate the thought!!

Got the notice today that Rte 12 on Cape Hatteras will open tomorrow morning, so we are headed back! The Carolina Crossroads RV resort has really been great! The staff have been very accommodating and are outstanding people. The Roanoke Rapids area is really nice and I have a new favorite stop called Ralph's BBQ, amazing!
The pod held up great in the weather we have had so far, our stop at Chincoteague Island had close to 9 " of rain in a two day span and here in Roanoke Rapids they say the got close to 10 in a three day span. Not a leak or problem the whole time.

We had a power outage that lasted about 2 hours. I understand that Wake Forest had two transformers blow and a power pole come down. Other than that, we just had some small branches in the yard. We had wind and rain, but for us, that totaled about 5". Farther south, the totals were 15" or more. Flooding is well downstream from us. The Neuse isn't expected to crest for another day or two.

Falls Lake is very high. The Army Corps of Engineers is not releasing water right now as it would exacerbate the flooding situation downstream. The area around Lumberton is particularly hard hit. Between levee failures and dam breaches, the situation is bad for some parts of the state. Even I95 is closed in parts because of the flooding.

Things should improve over the next few days as the rivers crest and start to recede. A lot of people have lost everything. There are a number of organizations which are helping such as Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, The American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, and various local, state, and federal disaster relief organizations. If anyone wishes to help, please do not fall for any scams. Please give to recognized charities that have a proven record of using funds received for the purpose intended and not diverted to fundraising or other administrative costs.
