I scrubbed ours down after our winter trip. However, I still see the effects of road salt. I will be going under and cleaning and painting rust spots. I already have done some of them. I bought some Rust-oleum Rust Reformer to catch any spots my wire brushing may miss.

oh ya, a ladder is a must for me.  i use a car brush on a long handle for the top and hand wash the rest.  i use turtle wax soap and wipe it down with turtle wax wash and wax.   sparkly when done!!  hogone

Same, same, I don't feel confident walking on roof, either way you need a ladder.

Unfortunately, the roof of the R-Pod is not like behind our ears. The sun's UV rays will with time degrade the gelcoat and the top will eventually grow brittle and crack. Cleaning and applying a protective coating to the top of the R-Pod is not the easiest thing to do. However, it can extend the life of the roof. Besides, when the roof is being cleaned is a good time to inspect the lap sealant for cracks and to clean and apply more lap sealant as needed. If you never look up there, you won't know when a potential leak is developing.

If the lap sealant looks "ifffy", do you scrape the old stuff off and reseal (caulk gun???) with the same stuff, or do you go over the old stuff?

We scraped off the old, wiped it down clean and then resealed it with the new sealer.

Dicor's instructions are to use denatured alcohol to clean off the old sealant and to apply new sealant over the old sealant. You don't need to remove the old sealant unless you want to.

We purchased our Dicor on Amazon back in June 2016.  Had to buy a two-pack for 24.00 - that included shipping.  We did as StephenH stated per instructions; use denatured alcohol and then apply the Dicor.  Even after 5 years the majority of the sealant looked pretty good.  Ended up using almost 1 tube to do everything.

My method was to inspect the sealant already there. If it looked intact, I did not mess with it. If it was cracked, I cleaned the old sealant in that area plus some of the surrounding area with denatured alcohol, then applied new Dicor sealant to the cracked area to fill the cracks. This seems to be a good way to seal without using large amounts of sealant.

When I installed, and recently removed, the vent cover, I just removed enough sealant around the screw holes to fit the brackets, cleaned the areas, and sealed them. When I remove the brackets, I did likewise to seal the screw holes and around where the brackets were. I removed the cover since our escaPOD will be going to the factory for repairs and I wanted to remove as many non-stock items as I could before it leaves here.

The external shower area is cracked a bit. What sealant should I use? Looks like it's transparent...

Patrick_dube, by any chance did you find out what kind of sealant to use? My external shower area is also cracked. My Pod is a 2017 172, Must be a common problem. Thanks ahead of time.

I used Grocel PoflexRV (available at Amazon). Could'nt find a tan version, so I bought a white one. I should've bought a black version as it blends more with the trim pieces.
