Topic: Storage Posted: 22 Aug 2017 at 8:07am |
We will be receiving our 182G next week. I have been trying to decide whether to store it inside (unheated) at a self store place or outside with cover.
We live in the Toledo, Ohio area so we do have winters, and heavy snow at times. We used to own a boat and always stored it inside.
Obviously inside storage will run about $100 more a month, but it does seem to have benefits since the trailer will not be subject to weather extremes, rain, dust, and snow.
Are there any thoughts to help me make a decision?

We live just north of you across the state line and store ours outside and covered during the winter. No problems at all. Just make sure you do a thorough job of winterizing the water lines. There are plenty of excellent tutorials both here and on YouTube to walk you through the process.

Thank you for your quick response. I am seriously considering outside storage with cover. I was just a little wary of keeping it in the weather. Do you cover the tires with a separate cover? Put down the stabilizer jacks?
So many questions and sooo many things to learn.

Yes, I do use tire covers for UV ray protection. Does it work? I don't know but it makes feel good. Early when I started hanging out in this forum I read a post that suggested not to store the Pod with the stabilzers in the down position. The stabilizers aren't strong enough to support the weight of the trailer if the tires went flat. Makes sense to me so I don't and absolutely no problems.
