Greetings to all,

There have been questions asked and discussion already about next year's round up in Traverse City, Michigan by past attendees.  Our team of three J's, Jim, Jack, and Jay have begun the process and here is what we can disclose as of now:

The Traverse City Holiday Park Campground has graciously increased the sites they will hold for this event to 35.  If these sites are all accounted for early in the year they may be able to increase that number, however that will be up to management so the word is to reserve early to guarantee your site.  There are other campgrounds in the area that last minute attendees can go to: Interlochen S.P. as well as the Keith Charters S.P. in Traverse City but they are 10 to 20 minutes away drive time.

In mid November, there will be information given here with a link to a google form that you can fill out to reserve.  Holiday Park staff prefer you fill out and submit the form through this link.  This option was first offered for our 2023 Roundup and was a tremendous success.    A staff member from Holiday Park will contact each participant and process a deposit with a credit card, confirm arrival and departure dates, etc...

If a participant does not want to utilize the link, they can give Holiday Park a call at the park number after December 1, 2023,  and leave a message with their name, rally name and dates of arrival and departure.  A staff member will return their call in as timely a matter as possible.

That is it for now, enjoy these spectacular autumn colors if you can.

The Link to pre-register for the Traverse City, Michigan R-Pod rally has been sent out to those who were attendees at our last rally in June.  They will have until December 5 to register, after that the link will be sent out to the public for anyone else to register.  Fortunately more sites will be available for those interested.

Stay tuned, on December 6, the link will be posted here.  Thank you.

Time has expired for 2023 attendees to pre-register for this event before this link gets open to everybody, which is right now.

So down to business: We have been given a link by the staff at Holiday Park in Traverse City for the 2024 R-Pod Rally.  There has been some interest in golfing at a local venue and if that includes you, plan on coming a day earlier so we can make that happen.  Tee times would be on Wednesday June 12, likely later in the afternoon so you would at least have time to set up camp.

Here is the link to reserve.  2024 R-Pods Rally
If that doesn't work on your phone, tablet, or laptop use this link https://forms.gle/gYpsWLBYU2DnDL638.

Finally, if you are still having issues, this will certainly work: https://forms.gle/jYxwV7wQ2zkxPGVJ8.

Follow the prompts, it will take only a few minutes to fill out the form.  NOTE: :You will NOT be asked for payment at this juncture.  Once this info has been collected by Holiday Park, a staff member will get in contact with you to collect payment.

If you have any further questions please direct them to me.  Looking forward to our next rally in June.

Respectfully,
Jim Tollefson

Update from Holiday Campground as of 2/14/2024:

160 Loy
211 Welshons
There are currently 4 available sites left.

Last year a lot of interest was shown in having a golf outing before the rally.  Please let me know (PM if you prefer) IF you plan on playing and also if you wish to organize this event at a local golf course.  I need to know within the next 7 days so we can get this on the docket.  The course I used to be superintendent at (A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort  72 holes) already has a lot of tee times booked for the day we would be playing on.  The course we would play on would be within 15 minutes from our rally site.

Just spoke with Holiday Campground staff.  There are a few who claim they are attending but have not signed up as of yet on the link supplied in an earlier post.  Please utilize the link so you can officially be registered.  Thanks.

Update to the 2024 Traverse City R-Pod Rally:

Rally Central will be site 177.  Most scheduled activities will be take place at that site.

Many will be staying all 3 nights over Father's Day weekend, checking in on June 13th and checking out on June 16th.  Know in advance that there will be plenty of down time purposely built into the schedule to give everyone an opportunity to visit and enjoy all things that Traverse City has to offer during most of Friday and Saturday.  New this year will be golf at a local venue that will take place Thursday morning.  Obviously if you plan on playing you will want to check in a day earlier, on Wednesday.

For starters, Thursday night will be low key.  Feel free to drop by site 177, or not for a very informal bonfire gathering.  No activities are scheduled for that evening.

Friday you will have the entire day to yourself.  Starting at 6 pm, we will have a potluck dinner at the pavilion, followed of course by a bonfire at site 177.  1/4#, black angus hotdogs will be the main entree (charcoal grilled of course!) and will be provided by our hosts free of charge.  If you don't like hotdogs, bring your own entree and if it is a meat, we will grill that over the charcoal as well.  Also, please bring a desert or dish to pass, your own beverage, and your own table service.  We will also plan on distributing any Forest River giveaways on Friday evening by picking names out of a hat.

After dinner a Q & A about all things R-Pod will take place.  After that the rest of the night will be spent around the bonfire getting to know one another.

Saturday we will have the chance to tour each others' R-Pods to see what people have done with their wonderful home away from home.  Participation is totally optional and will start at 11 am and last until 1 or 2 in the afternoon.  Free time after that until 6pm when we will once again gather at the pavilion for another informal potluck.

Around 7 pm the fun will start at site 177.

All attendees are requested to bring a gift, if possible from your local area, valued at no more than $25 for our back-by-popular-demand Chinese auction.  Gifts selected by all will be subject to being stolen, or permanently borrowed if you will, up to a maximum of 3 times by others.  Participation in this auction is entirely optional, but it also highly recommended!!!

After the auction, those wishing to do so will once again remain and gather around for another bonfire and opportunity to chat and exchange stories with old and new R-Pod friends.

Sunday of course brings checkout time, which is no later than 11 am.  Beginning at 9:30am we will hold an optional nondenominational service, again at site 177, that lasts about 30 minutes.  You are invited to join us if you are so inclined.

Also likely expect some corn hole contests and possible an informal euchre tournament to occur during those hours on Friday or Saturday when there's nothing officially scheduled.

We all look forward to meeting all of you.  Please feel free to post any questions or comments you may have, and I will get back to you ASAP.
