Just returned from 5 road trip to Assateague Island it was amazing! We spent 2 weeks at the Assateague State Park Campground and 2 Weeks at the National Seashore Campground!
Weather was excellent, solar worked great( we have (2)100 watt renogy panels, a 100 amp hour renogy agm battery and a 1000 watt Jackery )We ran our generator 3 time in the 5 weeks on a couple of cloudy days.
the water system worked great, we used 2 fine gallon totes for potable water and an 18 gallon waste tote for dumping.
The only rough time was the fishing but there is always next year!
Great places to camp, plenty of views of the wild ponies, beaches and dolphins!

Glad to hear you had a blessed time, Leo.  Curious as to whether at either campground if electricity is available as you mention using solar and generator.  I don't utilize either so I can only boondock for 6-7 days at a time before running out of juice using a 13 year old Interstate 12v deep cycle and 4 year old Trojan T-1275 battery when night temps are in the 40's and using the furnace a fair amount.  Thanks Leo.

I know one campground on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Oregon Inlet Campground. It has 47 sites with electricity and 60 without.

All the sties at Assateague State Park and the Assateague National Seashore Campground are no water and no electricity.
Though the camp host sites do have water and electricity.
We also love the Oregon Inlet Campground on Cape Hatteras!
That is one of our regular stops on our fall trip, along With Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park.
Really love going up and down the coast.
